My husband and I have been asked to help start a new Cub Scout/Boy Scout pack... We have told the man No... I just got a call from one of the other people starting this pack with him and had to tell her NO, and told her that I had already told the other guy NO... Yes, our son is in scouting and we are looking for another pack, but 1 of these people are the reason we left the other pack..... Without cussing them out, cause that isnt a good scout, how do I get these people to accept our answer of NO? I told them we didnt want to be a part of a new pack, we would rather be a part of an established pack.....I have tried everything I can think of. I am not used to adults who dont listen to the word no... Thanks everyone

The person you are speaking to does not have a working understanding of the english language. Most likely, they have simply memorized a set of phrases, phonetically, in an attempt to appear literate. Next time, when "no" does not work, try a brick.

Do you have caller ID? If so, the next time you see the number pop up, don't under any circumstances answer the phone. Let them leave messages...you can delete them right away. If after a while of not anwering the phone they continue to call, that could be considered harassment and you could potentially bring them to court. However, I don't think you'd want to do that, so your best bet is to just ignore them. Don't answer when they call, and if they come to your home, tell them "No" for the final time and shut the door. They will (hopefully) get the hint after a while.

If they insist on bothering you there is always the smile polite and inform them what they are doing is called harressment and any good lawyer would be glad to take the case to help you either sue them or place a restraining order. While they digest that inform them to have a nice day and simply hang up, close the door, or walk away. If this doesnt work, follow through on your promise. That will get it through real quick.

Pretty frustrating! I always find if your polite and end the conversation definitively there is not much more they can say. for example- I really appreciate you asking but no i can't ,(or no I'm not interested) but thanks alot! If I'm on the phone I'd add a goodbye and hang up. Once you've basically ended the conversation and started your getaway there is no where else for them to go . Good luck, and don't give in.

Get a posterboard, a big red marker, Write the word NO, and hold it over your head wherever you go. This might get your point across. If that does not work, shove the poster over the head of the next person that asks you and make them wear it around for 24 hours.

You sound like a nice person. I would laugh and ask them at the same time, What part of No don't you understand? Make sure you smile at the same time... it will help take the edge off.
When you make people feel stupid for saying rude things, they usually back off.

"the reason we left the last pack was because of so and so".

Also, why not go back to your old pack now?

Some people are just thick-headed. Next time just ask them "what part of no don't you understand?"

Because they think that if they keep coming onto you, you will give in.

Hang up the next time they call

If you tell a credit card company you don't want a new credit card they will still call your house to see if they can change your mind.
