If we all sleep in death to wait for the coming of Christ, then where do ghosts or spirits or whatever you want to call them, come from? Are they people that woke up too soon from death or just never went to sleep?

You really answered your own question. If we are sleeping in death than there is no way that we can wake ourselves only God can do that. At Genesis 3:15 it says " From dust you were created and dust you will return." And at Ecclesiastes 9:5 it says, " the dead are concious of nothing at all." So it can't be a dead person. So true to what most of your answers have said, it is most likely demons. Pray outloud using God's actual name (Psalms 83:18) not a title like God or Lord....That's like calling the President by his title, but the President has a name right? So does God, and it's one he gave himself not one given to him by man. Use his name in prayer and ask for relief from spirits if you're ever bothered by them.

They are Satan's demons who can take any form and most of the time after a loved one has passed on, they come in the form as the loved one. We are taught in our Bible's to "try the spirits to see if they are of God or not".
I do not disagree with your statement that we "sleep and wait for Christ", I just have my own belief that at the timing of each individual's death from earth, "that" is each of our judgement times. I cannot say for fact.... at this time this is what I believe.
However, back to your question; I have had a LOT of experiences with ghosts and spirits and do know that they are 99% of the time demons in disquise!

No, they are demons pretending to be dead people, notice Saul went to the witch of Endor..1Samuel 28;8-25.

So supposedly Samuel spoke to him..

notice Hebrews 11:1-40..Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for..In faith all these died..32) ..Samuel....that they might attain a better resurrection...39) And yet all these, although they had witness borne to them through their faith, did not get the fulfillment of the promise, as God foresaw something better for us, in order that they might not be made perfect apart from us.

The ghost are angels who sinned, and joined in Satan's rebellion.

Jude 6 And the angels that did not keep their original position, but forsook their own proper dwelling place he has reserved with eternal bonds under dense darkness for the judgment of the great day.

Ephesians 6;121,12 ..stand firm against the machinations of the Devil; because we have a wrestling, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places.

There are no such things as ghosts for the Bible says that the dead are conscious of nothing :
"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, (the grave)whither thou goest."--Ecclesiastes 9:10
"For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything--" Ecclesiastes 9:5
"His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; In that very day his thoughts perish."--- Psalms 146:4
There are wicked angels called demons and these we have to be on guard against. They are led by Satan the devil and these demons try to deceive people into believing that the dead are really not dead at all. Some people fear the dead and some try to talk to them, but the Bible condemns those who do this.
"There shall not be found with thee any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one that useth divination, one that practiseth augury, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer.(Necromancy is a form of divination in which the practitioner seeks to summon the spirits of the dead in order to gain knowledge of future events from them. These spirits are called Operative Spirits and Spirits of Divination.) For whosoever doeth these things is an abomination unto Jehovah: and because of these abominations Jehovah thy God doth drive them out from before thee."
The dead remain asleep until they are brought back to life by resurrection.

Spirits or Ghosts are either:

1) People who have died

2) People who have not yet been born

3) People who will never get born (followers of Satan).

The waking up, you're talking about is the Resurrection, when the spirit is reunited with the body.

What we are looking (Scottish Paranormal uk team) is that there are diverse phenomenon occuring at a undeniable region - that may not be bearing directly to the comparable potential. each and every so often appiritions are seen - that are very distinctively from a term. further sensitives %. up on mini-clips or residual hauntings (as I do) that are definately of a prior journey in that region and can often be shown as acceptable by utilising study. For others like EVP it ought to surely be - as you assert a various length calling, and the shadow people who're frequently pronounced maximum probable greater healthful this theory - like they are no longer o.k. here. we are only waking as much as the thought our bodies emit an electric powered cost or air of secrecy, and that express stable or undesirable entities can lock onto those. This poses the question that this air of secrecy may be seen in yet another length. It additionally follows that we would additionally see different peoples air of secrecy's in ours. This "charged field" would exite ions interior the air and reason smoke or mist ghosts that seem to easily dssapear - which inserts our standards o.k.. yet another problem we won't fathom is mysterious dissapearances - gadgets apperating in skinny air or immediately dissapearing. 2 attainable routes to this - a million. they are hidden in this airplane - yet out of sight. 2. they are bumped off thoroughly to a various airplane. I surely have purely properly-known #a million - keys taken from a pocket, yet regarded in an unopened field of washing powder. this might look impossible in the event that they floated approximately, yet credible by utilising wormhole concept. exciting study.... Ghosts are demonic spirits. If you play around with the occult, you can draw them to yourself. I'm very sensitive to these things, so I can't watch scary movies or anything, because I've seen and heard things. I started keeping Christian music on all day at my house and the spirits left.

They are merely figments of the imagination, nothing more.

They are attributable to the human instinct towards mild paranoia (this kept our ancestors on edge when not in 'safe' environments, keeping them ready for fight-or-flight) and pattern recognition (the brain hears wind blowing through an opening and the white noise is perceieved as whispers).

They are the deceased who return to the human realm. Essentially, a ghost is like someone in a state of astral projection, the only difference being a ghost is not connected to a physical body.

Usually, they can enter and leave the higher realms as they please.

They are spirits of the deseased on another plane. They can come on to our plane and walk amongst us without knowing were here, just as we dont see them. They can communicate with some people who are sensitive to them such as mediums. It is very rare to see them however.
