Are ghosts dead people?

At Genesis 3:15 it says " From dust you were created and dust you will return." And at Ecclesiastes 9:5 it says, " the dead are concious of nothing at all." So it can't be a dead person. So true to what most of your answers have said, it is most likely demons. Pray outloud using God's actual name (Psalms 83:18) not a title like God or Lord....That's like calling the President by his title, but the President has a name right? So does God, and it's one he gave himself not one given to him by man. Use his name in prayer and ask for relief from spirits if you're ever bothered by them.
