The difference between stupidity and ignorance is that ignorance can be cured. People that want to be knowledgeable will ask questions so they can learn from the answers. The concept of "There is no such thing as a stupid question." is to inspire people to ask questions. It is meant to inspire students to forget about peer pressure or looking silly and ask the question.
The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. If the students are paying his salary by their tuition and he feels their questions are not worthy of his attention, then he is obviously not up to the task. If he had any scruples, he would resign his post.

Many college professors say that. Don't think anything of it. But there comes a point where they do think you are stupid if you ask the same question 5 times. Many professors have told our classes that also. It isn't uncalled for, just making humor.

While the way he said it might put you off, it is also possible he was thinking of people who ask questions instead of using what they know to figure things out for themselves. Learning how to learn - how to think things through - is critical in a world where so much is done for us.
Perhaps another way to say it is that the first person from whom you should try to get an answer is yourself - when you try that you will be surprised at how much you know and how information from one part of your life can be applied to another.
Why not ask the teacher what he meant? Ask not in a confrontational way, but as though you value his opinion.
BTW, if you are in college, you may wish to considered some help with grammar and spelling. It does not make what you have to say less important, but as you move into adulthood, you will find that problems in these areas make it hard to get people to take you seriously.

Hopefully, he's kidding, but, if not it means that he doesn't like it when people ask questions in class. You'll have to think carefully about whether this is a good learning environment for you. If not, then take the class from someone else.
If he is kidding, I guess I agree with you that the joke is a little bit in poor taste. But nobody's perfect.

No. By the time you get to college, you should have learned to stop and think before you ask a question.

Just make sure you don't ask any questions and you'll be fine.
It's probably just to discourage all those obnoxious kids that ask 25 questions every class. You know that type right?
