was there lightning and thunder? Why did the sun, moon, and stars apparently go around the Earth? Why did someone get sick and die? Why did anything happen? Well, obviously, God did it. If a person doesn’t know how something works or why something happened, they can say, “God did it.” This is known as the “god of the gaps,” or the “argument from ignorance,” and it is at the heart of the conflict between science and religion. Science looks for natural causes, while religion looks for supernatural causes. Science is steadily winning, because as we understand more and more about the universe, the gap where God might function grows smaller and smaller. Every time we learn more, God has less room to operate.
When we learned what caused the sun to apparently move across the sky, there was no need for the Greek god Helios and his chariot. When we understood what caused lightning, there was no need for the Greek god Zeus, the Roman god Jupiter, or the Norse god Thor.

Does it make you a good person?

I ask because I don't believe in any god. But for the sake of argument, lets say I die, and some God judges me and sees that I tried to always be a good person just because I believed that its what all people should do, would I be praised for it or punished for not believing? And which would be fair?

This immaterial god would have an immaterial mind, and the only minds that we have any examples of result from physical brains.

The only invisible, immaterial things that I know of are ideas, like mathematic, scientific and social concepts. Although ideas can be powerful in moving people to action, they are human creations and have no separate reality. If humankind were to disappear tomorrow, so would ideas — including the idea of God.
The English language even has a term for this — “reify” — which means “to regard something abstract as real or concrete.” The god idea is about as abstract as possible, with no real evidence for existence. However, people have been regarding some god or gods as real for thousands of years.

When I serve dinner on the table, I call out to my son who is normally busy on computer or watching TV in his room. My husband says, he is old enough, and I shouldnt be telling him to come down and eat. How would my son know, dinner is on the table? He says I am babying him.
He is 25 yrs old and lives with us. He was on his own when my husband wanted him to move back with us for the reason, I shouldnt be alone as he(my hubby) is always travelling out of the country. Is it wrong if I ask him to come, so that all finish eating one time?

The WAY OF THE WARRIOR teaches that when we are children,
words can hurt us. But when we become Men and Women, we
know that a word cannot hurt you.
I welcome your thoughtful, or unintelligent responses. As they will
help me to be ready with an answer for a question, as we are
advised to do.

I don't want to post the pictures here because some are a little x-rated for the children. There is one where a bonobo is walking like a human, but I think that was the only one who was found to walk that way.

If this evolutionary scenario of ecological continuity is true, the bonobo may have undergone less transformation than either humans or chimpanzees. It could most closely resemble the common ancestor of all three modern species. Indeed, in the 1930s Harold J. Coolidge – the American anatomist who gave the bonobo its eventual taxonomic status – suggested that the animal might be most similar to the primogenitor, since its anatomy is less specialized than is the chimpanzee's. Bonobo body proportions have been compared with those of the australopithecines, a form of prehuman. When the apes stand or walk upright, they look as if they stepped straight out of an artist's impression of early hominids.

If the bonobo isn't the closet ancestor of humans, then which one is it?

My father said that it is a very complicated thing the first thing you have to do is control the growing populations so that the pressure is decreased that leads to war. To do this you have to stabilize the war zones then educate the people which takes many years. He said this is very very difficult to do in many regions that are very impoverished and riddled with pockets of terrorists who instigate wars. I thought with all the new technologies maybe someone could figure out some better faster and less expensive methodology that will help us all progress to a better world that is more peaceful and stable. I am looking for ideas.

. If there really were a personal god, the existence of this god would be an obvious fact in the universe. God would be reaching into events in the world, and bypassing the laws of physics to influence the outcomes. People who lost limbs might have them re-appear. Babies killed in fires might come back to life. Other true miracles would happen. I’ve seen none of this, and I know of no one else who has either. In fact, there is no reliable evidence of any divine intervention, ever! God fails the reality test of everyday life.
