Get out of the house and go find something to do that will occupy your time. It does no good for anyone to sit around the house and dwell on whatever it is that you are upset about :-)

Hi
Depression is tough, but the word is abused. True depression is an illnes, a medical condition and it needs to be treeated as such. The first step for the patient is to recognize this and get help. From there on it is only up hill.

However - being bummed out, bored etc is not depression - that is a shallow state of mind.

I can not really help you - I need to know the cause of your depression.

A good way to fight depression is to find someone who is having a worse time than you and then help them! Make them your project! You can always find an elderly person who needs their lawn mowed; bake a cake for a lonely neighbor who's sick; run an errand for a neighbor; volunteer in a nursing home/hospital/hospice. There's always something you can do for someone and nothing makes you feel better than helping someone. It takes your mind off your problems at least temporarily and often puts your problems in perspective. Keep busy. See friends. Avoid whatever (whomever) has made you so depressed. Smile at people. You will feel better if you do these things.

First you have to ask yourself some questions:

Are you sleeping at night?
Are you eating?
Do you have thoughts of suicide?
Are you having dramatic mood swings?
Are you using drugs or alcohol?

This can help to see if you might be suffering from clinical depression, which can be treated with therapy and medication. Everyone gets the blues once in a while, and it's normal. If this is what you're going through, you'll get over it quicker by going out and doing things you really enjoy. If not, please seek help from your doctor.

One time I was very depressed and under much stress and I took up yoga the breathing techniques allows you to concentrate on how to breath which relieves your mind of other problems.
Here is a web site that may help.

Go out with your friends!!! If you've got any- you are lucky! Try to work out or just keep yourself busy with anything.. I love photography, so when I feel depressed I just go to the public park and take pictures of the people. I love it. Try to find something you like and keep yourself busy... But if it's really bothering you- get a professional to solve your problems! Be safe! Good luck!

Sorry you're feeling blue, I know how that feels. My advice is to do whatever you *don't* feel like doing. Little things like showering, getting dressed and going out for a walk or bike ride can seem very unappealing when you're depressed. Force yourself to do these things so you don't sink any deeper, and maybe it will help. Feel better :-)

From one who knows....force yourself to get out and about even if you don't want to. Don't isolate yourself from others who may care about you. Get some help from a local mental health agency or social service agency. Many of us have been where you are at one time or another in our lives. There is hope. Things will get better but stay actively involved in your own future. Best luck.
