I work in a corporate environment where I’m about one of three African American males in an office of about one hundred employees of every other group combined, but more Whites than all other groups. It is basically a very comfortable and friendly environment although it is not perfect. But I’ve noticed, sometimes the Black Women in the office would make some of the most racist and insulting comments about the White culture, White employees, White communities, or just White people in general. The two other African American Males and I don’t even make such comments or statements amongst our selves. But I noticed that the White employees in the office tend to not notice, or act as if they don’t notice these African American Women making these comments. But what is even more baffling is when I or one of the other African American Male don’t agree with every conservative viewpoint or perspective in the office, some of the White Males in particular tend to get very offended and show insecurity. I often wondered why our simple disagreements are more important than other people who make blatant racial comments (including the use of the word cracker).

"don't get your panties in a bunch"

the people who would actually utter that phrase are people who I don't want even thinking about the fact that I am wearing panties... makes my skin crawl!

This is basically anonymous for most people here, so you can be honest. Do you ACTUALLY believe that stuff? Do you ACTUALLY believe that the world was made in 7 days, even though it has been proven to have taken trillions of years?
That may not be a great example, but you get what I'm saying.
From observing religous people, I'm not so sure that any of them actually believe what they go out and preach. I think they preach because they WANT to believe it (for a myriad of reasons...hey I think it would be cool to live forever, but it is obviously impossible), AND because it makes their teachings seem more real to them.
Can you tell me with a straight face that you sincerely believe that when I die, my "spirit" will go off to some imaginary land in the sky, be put before this "god", and then he will then send me off to one of two other worlds in the sky (heaven or hell)?
If you do, YOU"RE NUTS!!! peace..oh and for the smartass out there: Im not looking 4 ne thing! Im happy now!!!

Do you know of any good, academic books on the subject? I'm going to do a paper on Zoroastrian Apocalyptic theology. I'm very fascinated by the subject, just wondered if anyone had any insight about resources. Thanks.

Assuming that people are born homosexual, and that God create all lives (just like creating different personalities) and gives His love unconditionally, then what's the big fuss with the Church accepting homosexuals?
Surely if ex-murderer or rapists can be accepted to the faith, there should be no bar to entry, so to speak.

We all know that people get turned on by the normal sexual organs in a man or a woman, their lips, butts and breasts. But does anybody get turned on by the following. And by turned on I mean sexually turned on.

Feet (Toes or Soles or both)
Hands (Palms or Fingers or both)
Eyes
Head
Ears
Nose
Elbows
Knees

Select only from the list above or add any other non standard thing. Don't say breats or butt etc.

There have been two theories told to me.

1) That those who do not believe in Jesus are going to hell (which doesn't seem fair to other religions)

2) That God has a special plan for those who are of different relgion.

I'm so confused!
Which one is it?
and for that matter, are either of them right?
(maybe this isn't right versus wrong, but more on perspective)

What do you think?
I just wanted to know.
Because if the first one is true (someone told me that there was a Bible quote saying that) then how is that fair to other religions?

If the second is true, then what is the special plan?

If neither are true, could you tell me what you believe?
Just trying to get some better perspective!
:)

I've stumbled across a theory that has been keeping me up at night, and I'm interested in your take. What if nothing is truly evil, and nothing is truly good? What if everything that occurs in the world is neutral....and we make it positive or negative by our response/reactions? If you think about it, this is actually a rather dizzying concept. That would mean that we would have to take total responsibility for our actions/reactions...and couldn't blame anyone or anything for our sorrows or our joys, because we create them ourselves. i do believe in a higher power, and that we are all trying to get back home....to rejoin with it (long story), and now I think I know how to do it. Take responsibility for myself and my spiritual growth. What do you think?

i'm dating a jewish boy, but they've told me so many things (like they don't take catholic girls seriously or stuff) that i'm kinda freaking out! i've heard of jewish/catholic couples who even get married but i wanted to see a general opinion. For the matter, his parents come from Israel but another jewish friend (who was friends with his ex) told me they (the parents) aren't that way.... so anyways, just wanted an honest opinion, specially from jewish people

And why do you do it? I can honestly say I NEVER litter. I am so good about it, and set such a consistent example, that my daughter actually picks up litter she finds and throws it away. I will hold onto whatever trash I have until I find a garbage can, and I teach my kids the same, so why can't other people? And laziness is not a good enough reason; we need to all work together to keep the earth clean. So do you litter? And if so, why do you think you have the right?

My shoe was stuck in a big piece of gum that someone just decided to spit onto the sidewalk the other day, and it was stuck very well...so well, in fact, that I could not get out of this sticky situation alone. I had to ask strangers for help for about 30 minutes before one was kind enough to help me.

How do you ask for help when this happens to you? Is there a trick to find help quicker than I did?

I am wondering just in case this ever happens to me again.
