I'd think hating people because they are not your sex/race/colour/religion would be totally unacceptable, yet our society defends this practice so long as it is done through a religious veil.

Catholic Women are not allowed to be priest. Women in Islam are secondary to men. The Jewish faith believes they are chosen by God. Also, many religions preach hate and intolerace towards homosexuals.

Even more outrageous:

Christians think god came to earth, then died and saved our souls in the process. They also think he's coming back, really soon... Strangely, Shites (of Islam) have a similar belief about one of their prophets.

If you agree that " religion perpetuates otherwise dismissible ideas" , then please come and Flush a Holy Book or more of your choice at http://flushaholybook.com

I really like this guy but he questions so much about God and faith and religion...I'm a christian myself but I'm so bad at debating..I wan't to be encouraging but I can't find the right words to get him to be more open to learn more about it without being critical or negative.. I wish I was gifted with the right words so that he could just understand what it means to have the lord in your life..I really care about this guy but it hurts to know that he has no faith..

I have no problems with gay people, gay marriage, etc. but I don't see how these parades help their cause. If anything, it just pisses the conservatives off. Is this the point?

Hello friends and family,

Good news! Turner made it through his first round of treatment without having to go to the hospital. He is neutropenic, but his counts are now going up, he never got a fever. But his scar where his stitches are is leaking spinal fluid again. It has been restitched, it leaked again and was glued with surgical glue, it is leaking again. So they have put him in the hospital until his counts get high enough that they can surgicaly fix the problem. They think he is not reabsorbing all his spinal fluid, you make over a liter of spinal a day and the old is reabsorbed. So we had a CAT scan today to see if that is the problem(spinal fluid pressure from buildup). So, we are waiting at the hospital until his counts are high enough to do something corrective. He is finally starting to eat again, not a lot, but he is a least keeping it down. So we have about two weeks to put some weight on him before he starts all over. Let's pray for hearty eating and strenght! Thanks for your love and prayers!

Love,

Melaina

Seriously, my sons are homeschooled but many of their friends have been telling us they are not allowed to say Grace, pray, wear crosses or crucifixes, or display ANY type of religious expression. I am sure that this is for ALL religions. We live in the U.S.A. not France! Is this going on everywhere?

I feel like calling smoking a bad habit downplays the danger that cigarettes bring. Cigarettes are the most addicting thing with the easiest access too, and it sickens me that more and more kids get addicted to it everyday. Dealing with the addiction is the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with.

Ok, so I know I'm gonna get a lot of bashing from this one but here it goes....

I'm a Traditional Catholic who does not believe or go by what Vatican II teaches and I don't think that the past few popes especially Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI are real popes. I think that especially after JPII kissed the koran and had the Hindu blessing and saying that all religions are the right religions he went against everything the Catholic Chruch teaches. I do not believe that he should be considered a saint or that he was "martyred" by being shot in the abdomin decades ago. I'm not trying to bash other religions or anyone who disagrees, but I would like to hear who agrees with me.

I don't usually venture into this section, But I have come across the statement in another answer that "atheists dont have morals"
Is this a widely held view amongest you religious types out there?
I'm not at all religious and do not belive in any god, in any shape or form.
BUT I do think some of your ten commandments are a pretty good set of guidelines to try and live my life by.
Is this really so bad?

When my mom talks of lesbians (She's ok with gay men), it is always something negative. The says that it is nasty and other things like that. I am gay but she does not know it. I want to tell her but with her attitude, I am afraid I will get kicked out. I have a twin sister and she is straight and she also talks negatively about lesbians. I am more butch like and most people just assume that I am gay. My mom dosen't like the way I dress and yells at me alot for it. Sometimes I think she does that because she dosen't want me to be gay and to let me know that being gay is unacceptable. I want to tell her that I am gay to see if she will stop yelling at me but I am afraid of getting kicked out since I am 18. What do yall think I should do? I plan on moving away after freshman year and getting a new start somewhere else but I want to start dating before then, but my sister is going to the same college. Also, any ideas on where to move to after this year?

The word "land" appears 13 times in the Qur'an and the word "sea" 32 times, giving a total of 45 references. If we divide that number by that of the number of references to the land we arrive at the figure 28.888888888889%. The number of total references to land and sea, 45, divided by the number of references to the sea in the Qur'an, 32, is 71.111111111111%. Extraordinarily, these figures represent the exact proportions of land and sea on the Earth today

The statement of "seven heavens" is repeated seven times. "The creation of the heavens (khalq as-samawat)" is also repeated seven times.

"Day (yawm)" is repeated 365 times in singular form, while its plural and dual forms "days (ayyam and yawmayn)" together are repeated 30 times. The number of repetitions of the word "month" (shahar) is 12.

The number of repetitions of the words "plant" and "tree" is the same: 26

The word "payment or reward" is repeated 117 times, while the expression "forgiveness" (mughfirah), which is one of the basic morals of the Qur'an, is repeated exactly twice that amount, 234 times.

When we count the word "Say," we find it appears 332 times. We arrive at the same figure when we count the phrase "they said."

The number of times the words, "world" (dunya) and "hereafter" (akhira) are repeated is also the same: 115

The word "satan" (shaitan) is used in the Qur'an 88 times, as is the word "angels" (malaika).

The word faith (iman) (without genitive) is repeated 25 times throughout the Qur'an as is also the word infidelity (kufr).

The words "paradise" and "hell" are each repeated 77 times.

The word "zakah" is repeated in the Qur'an 32 times and the number of repetitions of the word "blessing" (barakah) is also 32.

The expression "the righteous" (al-abraar) is used 6 times but "the wicked" (al-fujjaar) is used half as much, i.e., 3 times.

The number of times the words "Summer-hot" and "winter-cold" are repeated is the same: 5.

The words "wine" (khamr) and "intoxication" (saqara) are repeated in the Qur'an the same number of times: 6

The number of appearances of the words "mind" and "light" is the same: 49.

The words "tongue" and "sermon" are both repeated 25 times.

The words "benefit" and "corrupt" both appear 50 times.

"Reward" (ajr) and "action" (fail) are both repeated 107 times.

"Love" (al-mahabbah) and "obedience" (al-ta'ah) also appear the same number of times: 83

The words "refuge" (maseer) and "for ever" (abadan) appear the same number of times in the Qur'an: 28.

The words "disaster" (al-musibah) and "thanks" (al-shukr) appear the same number of times in the Qur'an: 75.

"Sun" (shams) and "light" (nur) both appear 33 times in the Qur'an.

In counting the word "light" only the simple forms of the word were included.
The number of appearances of "right guidance" (al-huda) and "mercy" (al-rahma) is the same: 79

The words "trouble" and "peace" are both repeated 13 times in the Qur'an.

The words "man" and "woman" are also employed equally: 23 times.

Will they not ponder the Qur’an? If it had been from other than Allah, they would have found many inconsistencies in it.
(Qur’an, 4:82)

The number of times the words "man" and "woman" are repeated in the Qur'an, 23, is at the same time that of the chromosomes from the egg and sperm in the formation of the human embryo. The total number of human chromosomes is 46; 23 each from the mother and father.

"Treachery" (khiyanah) is repeated 16 times, while the number of repetitions of the word "foul" (khabith) is 16.

"Human being" is used 65 times: the sum of the number of references to the stages of man's creation is the same: i.e.

Human being 65

Soil (turab) 17

Drop of Sperm (nutfah) 12

Embryo ('alaq) 6

A half formed lump of flesh (mudghah) 3

Bone ('idham) 15

Flesh (lahm) 12

TOTAL 65
