I agree with you.
"Not everyone saying to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens..." - Matthew 7:21. So not everyone who claims to be Christian will actually be saved..hint hint hehe.
"Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world." (1 John 4:1)
All religions are Not the right religions, and being a Pope I would expect him to be familiar with the scripture Ephesians 4:5, "one Lord, one faith, one baptism." Even if he didn't come out and say "all religions are right", and it is vital to respect other religions, I dont think kissing the koran was the best way to do that.

Well under christian teachings we a re taught that the other faith praise God and call him by another name, so by Pope John Paul II kissing the Koran and receiving the Hindu blessing could be seen as acknowledgment of this teaching. I was JPII showing respect to the other faiths. Martin Luther may have separated from the Roman Catholic church, but he did not denounce Christianity!

John Paul II never said that all religions are right or equal. He never even said anything close to that.
If John Paul and Benedict are not "real" popes, by what standard are you deciding who is and who is not? A "real" or valid pope is one who is elected according the church laws in effect at the time. If you or anyone else gets to decide each time if you accept the elected pope, you are not a "traditional" Catholic. There is nothing traditional in that.
If you choose what you want to believe, then you are not Catholic at all. Because if the Church does not have the authority to teach now, and in Vatican II, it did not have the authority for councils before that either. You destroy your own argument.

Well I always consider Pope John Paul II, to be a real pope and a good man. I think the reason he may have that all religions are right religions, was so he wouldn't offend anyone. Everyone is in titled to their own religion and beliefs, for whatever they are. No one religion is better then the other.
I'm Catholic, I also went to a Catholic school and in high school in one of my religion classes, we learned about the many types of different religions, along with the Catholic religion, we learned about Jews, Christianity, Hindu and so on. I actually found them all to be very interesting.

so what you are saying is that catholicism is right and no other religion has it right. I know you said that you are not trying to bash other religions but that is exaclty what you are doing. I think JPII is a saint and should be considered a martyr. What he did was try and unify all the religions becuase they all are based basically on the same religious beliefs. They just have there own spin to it. As long as you believe in GOD and know that he is real then there shouldnt be any discussion. Let people believe what they want, no one religion is wrong. I am non denominational christian, but i dont go around asking people to agree with my beliefs. Doing that is being ignorant of other peoples choices.

I agree, JPII didn't seem to represent what Christianity really stands for. He was amazingly tolerant and respective of other religions. Clearly that goes against central tenets of Christianity. JPII was a great man, but a poor pope for Christianity. Maybe one day Christianity can match up to what JPII thought about life and god, but until then it will be inferior, and different from JPII. - Which is why I agree with you.
Not to say I think this of all Christians, but I am convinced that intolerance is synonymous with ignorance, the Dark Ages, hate, anger, unhappiness, and mis- or lack of education. If you are proud of your intolerance, than congratulations! You are making an *** of yourself to the species by being proud of regression and ingnorance! Technology may or may not be 'progress' but tolerance clearly is. As I said I do not think this of every Christian, but I see that quite a few are like this and 'blame' their religion for the way they are.

So you are saying that you are a "Traditional Catholic" who does not believe in the leadership of your religion or direction? Then wouldn't that make you a, oh, I don't know, a PROTESTANT?
Just kidding! 80-)
Read your Bible. The head of the "church" is Jesus.
Eph 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ

I think the message to embrace people who are different is a good one, but he went about it the wrong way. I don't agree with the doctrinal implications themselves, and am not a Catholic, either. I do believe that there are probably a lot of Catholics who are truly saved, but a lot of Catholics now-a-days are very liberal (especially in the US).
For example:
29% have read the Bible in the past week, not including when they were at church. (2006)
30% are classified as born again Christians. (2006)
Slightly more than two-thirds of Catholics (68%) say the devil is non-existant and only a symbol of evil. (2006).
And that is all I have to say about that.

Pope John Paul II wanted all religions to become as ONE, so I believe he knew what was right for the Catholic Church and all humanity.

I do not agree with you at all. Pope Benedict XVI is the Vicar of Christ on earth and guided by the Holy Spirit in his sheparding of the Catholic Church, as was his predecessor Pope John Paul II.
I'm not bashing you at all and I will pray for you that the Holy Spirit will guide you in all truth in your heart. God Bless You.
