First, I apologize for the long question.
Let's assume there are two types of people: the believers and the non-believers, with thousands of subcategories of each.
In life, noone can know what happens after death or if God exists. Therefore, every person in life is just trying to have a belief based on nothing that will comfort them and provide motivation.
The believers of Christianity and or what-have-you will say that they are motivated by the fact that are to be judged one day and want to live a good life and dead relatives watch over them, while atheists are motivated by human achievement, the fact that Jesus is not going to one day come and end the world, that we will not one die and God will say life was pointless, it was just a test to see if you were worthy of Heaven, that your accomplishments to change the world for the better mean something.
Can't we all just be tolerant and get along, knowing that noone knows and we just want to do what is right for us?
