I could use some volunteers as well. I just realized I'm not going to be able to drive spikes through both of my hands.

I find talk radio (and also the internet) is bursting with vicious hatred of anyone who doesn't agree exactly with the Republican agenda. I see many postings here bursting with similar hatred. The Hutus used hate radio to prepare the people to slaugher the Tutsis. Are we seeing the same thing here?

Study the history of humankind and you will find that the one thing all cultures have in common is that they murder other humans. Is there some evolutionary advantage in that? What purpose can it possibly serve? Inquiring minds want to know.

This seemed to never be a problem when I was growing up (I'm 23 now), but in recent years (especially last year) people seem to have a problem with Christmas, or Merry Christmas, or Christmas Carols, or Christmas trees etc. etc. Many want "Christmas" replaced with "Seasons Greetings" or "Happy Holidays" which is fine to say, but why try to eliminate what the entire holiday is about...Christ! Now, I've heard that a mother wants to have "Christmas Break" replaced with "Winter Break" on all school calendars!!!! This is ridiculous! If someone came up to me and said "Happy Hannakuh" or "Happy Kwanzaa" or anything of the sort, I certainly wouldn't be offended because of the holiday they celebrate. I would smile and say "The same to you," or something of that nature.

What do you all think about this?

why do some christians think that telling an atheist, such as myself, we are going to go to hell if we don't start to believe as you do will suddenly scare us into belief in your god?

don't you understand that we also don't believe in hell?

how can you expect us to be scared of something that we know doesn't exsist?

Whenever I walk down the street, or am in a store, or on a train, most, yes most, of these ladies are really screaming at their kids, and teaching them nothing of value.

I am not talking about other races, here. Try not to view this as racist just because I have singled out blacks. That is unintelligent and short-sighted. Just try to to see what I am talking about and answer the question. If you just want to throw generalizations at me, then please refrain.

If you honestly, to your core, thought you were a good Christian, thought you understood everything in the Bible and tried to follow God's/Jesus's ways... and then died and found out that actually you were going to Hell, how would you feel? What would be your reaction?

1) It (the Bible) is full of interest. It has noble poetry in it; and some clever fables; and some blood-drenched history; and some good morals; and a wealth of obscenity; and upwards of a thousand lies
2) Who wants to go to Heaven with all those asshole angels?
3) There is so much in the bible against which every instinct of my being rebels, so much so that I regret the necessity, which has compelled me to read it through from beginning to end. I do not think that the knowledge I have gained of its history and sources compensates me for the unpleasant details it has forced upon my attention."
4) Faith means not wanting to know what is true.
5) All thinking men are atheists
6) With soap, baptism is a good thing
7) History I believe furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their political as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purpose
8) Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man
9) The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma
