If there was a god, and he was all powerfull etc, then how come he has failed to create a world that believes in him, or even one that functions well?
Maybe he realised what a bad job he did so he retired, thats why noone has written tales about him for hundreds of years.

Seriously, how do 'believers' justify a lack of godlyness all over the world?

I hear he likes long walks on the beach. He'll even carry you when you get tired. Isn't he romantic?

Personally I've never regarded myself as a god - it would be rather ridiculous to do so as I don't believe in the existence of gods. I've never seen any other atheist claim to be a god either. So, can this claim from a theist have any validity?

This annoys the heck out of me since I used to be in charge of quality control for customer service at the number 1 travel agency in the world! It was unacceptable to answer the phone:"Travel is busy, can you hold?" without waiting for a response from the client:"yes or no" first. Also, calling Doctor's, stores, etc. and being put on hold for more than, say, 3-5 minutes minimum, 10-15 min. maximum is common place; How long to you think is acceptable before hanging up and do you tell them about the "hold problem" when you finally get ahold of "them"?

2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. 3 Your eyes have seen what the LORD did at Baal Peor; for the LORD your God has destroyed from among you all the men who followed Baal of Peor. 4 But you who held fast to the LORD your God are alive today, every one of you.

If suffering only exists because god cannot interfere without taking away our free will, which he supposedly values above all else, then why do theists hope and pray that their god will interfere to bring about good things in life, and claim that he does exactly that? Why the contradiction?

It seems to me that theists always try to construct their ideas about god in such a way that they will produce a universe which is indistinguishable from a universe in which no god actually exists.

Isnt this an oxymoron? Besides todays Jihads theres been hundreds before it...

Islamic jihads (holy wars), mandated by the Koran, killed millions over 12 centuries. In early years, Muslim armies spread the faith rapidly: east to India and west to Morocco. Then splintering sects branded other Muslims as infidels and declared jihads against them. The Kharijis battled Sunni rulers. The Azariqis decreed death to all "sinners" and their families. In 1804 a Sudanese holy man, Usman dan Fodio, waged a bloody jihad that broke the religious sway of the Sultan of Gobir. In the 1850s another Sudanese mystic, 'Umar al-Hajj, led a barbaric jihad to convert pagan African tribes -- with massacres, beheadings and a mass execution of 300 hostages. In the 1880s a third Sudanese holy man, Muhammad Ahmed, commanded a jihad that destroyed a 10,000-man Egyptian army and wiped out defenders of Khartoum led by British general Charles "Chinese" Gordon.

Are Jihads peaceful ways to an Islamic heaven?

Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.

God will actually save us or intervene in any way?

If so, is this just a convenient way of ignoring the problem?

I keep getting mail for people who used to live in my house, all of which is obviously junk--credit card applications, requests for money from charities, mail made to look like real letters, but are actually advertising (I know because I get the same mail addressed to me.) I almost always forward them but my mailman seems to still be clueless (after 3 years) that these people don't live here anymore, and it seems like a waste of taxpayer resources to constantly return junk mail to sender.

I know I'm obligated to send the mail to where it belongs since these letters are not addressed to me, but lately, I'm thinking it's better just to trash them. What do you guys think?

i have to ask this because in a way i see evolution happening all over the place on a spiritual and physical level. we are in a age of evolution and i am going to point out a few of these things as i go here.

one. children at 5 to 6 years old females are getting "nubs" thats a evolution to its on point. boys at the age of 14 have growth spurts that leave stretch marks on there backs and are normaly growing as tall as 6 foot by the time they reach 16 or 17. those are the "physical" aspects of the evolution phase we are now in.

the spiritual evolution is a little harder to see but it is happening. has anyone notice that they are becoming more aware of them selves eating less or just more enlightened? thats the evolution of the soul that we have in us all.

Recently I was reviewing some questions and I came across one asked by a girl who was wondering if fat girls could get pregnant and there was one answer that I thought was particularly rude and crude. The boy answer her that since shes fat she won't have sex, thus nothing leads to pregnancy. How would you response to this guy if he answered you that way?????
