There may be passages within the Bible that say "Every word in the Bible is the Word of God." But that's like saying "This sentence is true," or someone writing a book about describing their visit to another planet and saying "Every word in this book is true."

Belief in God is one thing. But belief in a group of writings confuses me. How can we really know who wrote these works? How can we really know God told these authors what to write? How can we be sure God told the early church fathers what books to accept and which ones not to? If someone as powerful and all-knowing did these things, why are there so many mistakes and inconsistencies?

Wouldn't it make more sense that these author's were just pretty darned close to God, smart, loving, etc? But what they wrote is no more divine than the millions of other religious books that have been written since writing began?

I would talk about is life because he was a very remarkable man from what I can remember. Please only serious answers.

I hear the news prefix terrorist with either Muslim or Islamic. I was curious as to if this refers to the type of religion or ethnitisty, or if it refers something else. What should I take away as the meaning when someone calls a terrorist a Muslim or Islamic terrorist?

since the dawn of time, man has made elaborate mythologies to explain the questions of the universe that they couldnt possibly answer. Im not religious myself, but dont blast those who are. Whatever makes them happy. I just wonder, why it makes them happy. What is the purpose? With my experience (raised Catholic) religion caused more questions then actually providing answers so..... why does man need religion?

Ever notice how they both need to mark a spot, like spraying a fire hydrant, or spraying some jibberish which nobody but themselves seems to care about...

What about a program called TAG-THE-TAGGERS...with paint guns, Infrared goggles, etc, waiting in the night...and then BLAM..."tagger dressed in pretty pink colors, pick em' up!"

You cannot rip the gayness out of a gay person and still be left with a real living person any more than you can rip their guts out and not be left with a corpse...basically that is what you are doing when you make such pathetic snake-tongued and asinine comments.

Either be honest in your hatred (unChristian) or understand that gayness is intrinsic to a gay person and make an attempt to be tolerant.

For all those people who feel they have all of the answers about God, politics, etc., I have a shocking announcement: you DON'T. None of us do. No matter how much knowledge we acquire, there will always be more than we do not know. Maybe you should accept the possibility that you could actually be wrong? (Gasp!) Fire away...

We are exposed to a slew of violent and gory images everyday.

Everyday on the all we hear about is how many men and women died in a suicide bombing in Iraq.

Everyday, we hear about the upheavel in Israel.

Everyday, we are shown images of mangled bodies, severed limbs, and people living in constant terror

I'm not talking about movies, or television. I'm talking about REAL life. Cruel, Harsh, Brutal, Reality. Real people, real stories.

But, lately, they don't seem to invoke the same emotion I once felt.

Any thoughts?

Atheist, non believers, what do you have? You attack believers for having something to believe. At least, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc.. have some thing to base their believes in. They at least have something to look forward to.
What do you non-believer have. Nothing, emptiness, vanity. Some may say money or things in that nature, but, in the end you still have nothing.
It is better to believe in something than not to believe.

It is almost like the non-believers want to believe.....

How many honest, rich, non-believer are out there.... (rhetorical, don't answer)
