We are exposed to a slew of violent and gory images everyday.

Everyday on the all we hear about is how many men and women died in a suicide bombing in Iraq.

Everyday, we hear about the upheavel in Israel.

Everyday, we are shown images of mangled bodies, severed limbs, and people living in constant terror

I'm not talking about movies, or television. I'm talking about REAL life. Cruel, Harsh, Brutal, Reality. Real people, real stories.

But, lately, they don't seem to invoke the same emotion I once felt.

Any thoughts?

This is something every one has to think about. Why is this happening? Do you really think that we got emotionally upset when seeing those violent news about that after effects of war? We just saw the news and had our food before TV nothing more than that. If we are really disturbed start speaking about this with every one, teach the kids how horrible it is to get into wars. If we cant change the present, lets try to change the future. Todays kids are tomorrow leaders and solders.
Emotion is a very serious thing. We get really effected by it only if it happens to us. Thats the main reason for all the things happening around us.
Do you think TV people show us images of mangled bodies, severed limbs to terrorize us, they show us to evoke somekind of response in the society. Its in our hands to change the world. Thank you for such a good question.

I was raised watching bullfights on TV with 2 older brothers who constantly talked about gross stuff while I was eating. I'm OK with things on TV but in person it's another story. If there's a gawker slow-down on the freeway I don't want to look. Once there was a burning car and they had the jaws of life out to get the door opened. I could only imagine the horror that person went through and I cried all the rest of the way to the job interview at the mental health association. But I got the job.

Television doesn't necessarily project a reality we believe anymore, is my take on this.

The emotion i felt about violet is very sad and mad but on the other hand if we didn't go to Iraq they would come to America and try to kill all of us Americans . I no woman, men and children are dieing in suicide bombings but they were bought up in that kind community around them. These Arabic think they're protecting there country by killing there own people. These people are living in constant terror all over the world all kinds of different cult and colors , but when Americans try to help them, They turn on Americans and be very racist. But when we do help some of these people to get out of terror i just thank god .

You are right. I often overlook the fact that these people are someones loved one. I forget that they must have suffered pain and agony in the end.

And imagine feeling every day of your life the the way we all felt just minutes after 9/11 was realized to be a terror attack. Not knowing the next target, and realizing we are not as safe as we believed.

recently my fiance's brother was deployed to Iraq. That put things in a new light for me...

He is a REAL person, in REAL danger...

My wager is which you have some form of alternative problem, like are you mad at somebody near to you, like your mom or your dad? each from time to time once you have different thoughts hiding in there, you are able to't look to experience the rest becasue you're so caught up in the different difficulty. You have been slicing your self for a reason, possibly that's your self which you hate, in case you adore your self, you are able to love the international and human beings, and work together proerly with something of the international. Jsut attempt to think of of a few thing which you don;t think of might desire to problem you, and ask your self whether it easily does problem you. circumvent all of it you want, it is going to nonetheless hang-out you

I think we have become very desensitized to the cruelty and harsh reality of life in general. I know that right after the terrorist attacks, people flogged to churches to pray but where are a lot of those people now?

I think you are right. I had to lecture about WW2 in front of a class of 10 year olds, including my grandson. I spoke of my experiences as a kid their age in WW2. It all left them pretty cold. I am a good speaker and adults will always react. These kids just gave blank stares. My grandson said: " it did not seem that terrible, Grandma, my games are more violent and we like the action".

You're just growing up. It's still abhorrent but you become a little desensitised. It's one of the brain's coping mechanisms.

That doesn't make it right, but it's reality. Understand that it's not the world that's changing, it's you that's changing.

It's a hardening of the heart. After seeing those types of things you can become desensitized to them.

People are so distracted. I also think that it is our way of handling things. I know that it is wrong to be ignorant but self destructive to focus on all of the pain in this world. There is too much. There has to be balance.
