.. If the asker doesn't really care to know the truth.

'I'm fine' is pretty meaningless. I feel like just replying 'Raaaaaaaaaaar' and walking off.

Would that deter people from speaking to me? Oh well.

My ex wife and ex girlfriend are friends and seem to have nothing better to do than sit around and bag on me to any and everyone within earshot. I live in a small community and I know I shouldnt let it bother me but, it does. If they want to bag on me for things I did wrong, fine. I could handle that. However they take something that has an ounce of truth and completely distort it to make it 10x worse than what the true story is. I know, my true friends and more intelligent, grounded people will takt their gossiping with a grain of salt however, it is still getting to me. They are both bigtime victim personalities so everything is my fault (or another ex) that has ever happened to them. So, any concrete advice as to not let this bother you?

You know how people always say oh you're racist or prejudice if you say that or believe it, but stereotyping does have substance and some truth to it, which a lot of it is ignorance, but just like there are cultures more prone to certain diseases, they have some truth. If you carry it out to an extreme though and close your mind and just believe it without a chance then you are ignorant.

It seems like nothing other than my FRIEND interests me anymore! And, I can't concentrate! Every time that I try, everything gets kind of blury, its not that I'm sick, I do it on purpose, its like, I don't want to concentrate, so blurring everything has become a reflex! And, I have become very irritable! I'm depressed if that might have anything to do with it... Anyway, I just need to know if something is wrong with me! And, please, take this seriously!

Success is counted sweetest
By those who ne'er succeed.
To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need.
Not one of all the purple host
Who took the flag to-day
Can tell the definition,
So clear, of victory!

As he, defeated, dying,
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Burst agonized and clear!

QUESTIONS:

1.What do 1-4 suggest about the circumstances in which people care most about success

2.According to the speaker in the poem, who appreciates success most? Why might their appreciation of success be greater than others?

i know that even teenagers and even older people do so. ...

so basically, my question is why people suck their thumbs. and if you see it as ''a pacifier that never falls'', i can change my question to ''why do we even NEED a pacifier?''. :)

is it somekind of lack of self-belief?

thank you in advance.

I am 14 and have always been EXTREMELY sensitive and I care a lot about what others think of me and I wish I didn't. For example, my family was having a get together at my house and my grandfather just RANDOMLY called me fat (im 140 lbs and 5'5") so i just smiled at him because i didn't know what to say, and within 5 minutes i was crying up a storm! and everyone was looking at me weird. What are some ways to hold in emotion? And what can i do to make myself a stronger person?
