"Marijuana will cause lung cancer" and "will cause cell degradation." Do you think it's time to drop the class? Why won't people do their homework about the drug instead of spreading around false propaganda?

Being deserted on an island all by yourself, just like the movie castaway...How would you react to this situation? Would you just curl up in a ball and cry, or would you do your best to survive.

Personally, I'm glad to know I have God to comfort me in a situation like that.

I mean, why? Dogs can be cute but some of them are ugly, not very smart, they poop and piss everywhere and a dog poo is not pleasing to your eyes and your shoes. They are noisy and smelly. Don't kid yourself thinking they'd understand you when they stare at you with their big gleaming eyes because they don't, they just want their meal and go out for a run.
Some people love their dogs so much that they equate them with people or worse yet, put their dogs before their kids, spouses or friends.

Why don't people worship cats/fish/birds/ in this extent?
What makes dogs so special that they are preferred over other animals, and over people sometimes (I think the latter is a crime, because it is unnatural to abandon your own species, figuratively speaking)?

I just don't get it! Please help me understand! Thanks.

This is a question for both the management and the employee...

If you were the head of a medium-sized design company, and you have just hired a new employee, would you rather that person be upfront with being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, or would you rather they kept it to themselves? Would you want them to be honest about things they need in order to be the most productive, even if it means talking about ADD?

If you were diagnosed with ADD and required certain things like a more private working area to prevent distractions, or written instructions along with verbal instructions, would you be up front with you boss about your disorder? Would you ask for those things, but not mention the disorder? Would you be worried about the stigma or negative stereotypes associated with ADD?

Is ADD better kept as a secret, with the employee coping with certain difficult aspects privately, or should there be an openness there, allowing for the employer to help in productivity?

Here is my story.

I have a business partner that most people find very charming, and rather simple. But that is deceiving to say the least and he is far from simple. Over the last year and say four months I would overlook what I viewed as exaggerations and tall tale telling on his behalf. Recently I had to confront him for what I saw as inappropriate sexual behavior towards me ( I am a lesbian and he is straight ), which he denied and I had to list about 4 incidents to get him to admit it. Also I caught him in two lies regarding our business that have led to some major discussions between us. Remember he is adept at placing the blame everywhere and direct questions are met with evasion. Even with direct proof he will evade and dismiss. Also a week ago it was brought to my attention by a computer geek that someone is accessing my computer without my knowledge and going through personal files. There was something irregular that came up on my computer that alarmed me. I am still investigating this one, but I will give you one guess on who I suspect. Normally I would just end my association with such an individual and jettison their *** to the curb, BUT suddenly, because a friend of mine connected me with two major players in our industry in the past two weeks, we are on the verge of being very, and I mean very successful with a product my business partner created and I marketed. And there are two other products that he created and I marketed that I learned this week are going to sell as well. Because of the financial/time investment I cannot simply walk away. I always knew the products would be a success but I never bargained for this…any thoughts, ideas or suggestions?

Frederick Perls said "I do my thing, you do your thing ... If we don't meet, it can't be helped". One psychology textbook I read stated that he was saying that we don't *have to* have someone else in our life, i.e. a mate, to be healthy psychologically, although it is beautiful if it does happen to work out that way.

Was Perls wrong about this?

before you were alive, you were nothing, right ? you dont remember anything at all and you didnt exist , so (religious ideas aside) if death is 'nothingness' then WHY is everyone so scared of it ? in a way we were 'dead ' for years before we were born so its nothing new.
does my theory cheer you up ?

Sometimes, you need a second opinion in all aspects of your life...but, what is so wrong with trusting what you are feeling inside? This can go for anything you are questioning about YOUR own life...

Being an advocate for the mentally ill, I did a piece at a newspaper forum on health care and for the government to be able to help those that have mental problems. Many of the health insurances refuse to give medications and hospitalization for those that need it. A few people on the forum stated (adamantly) that the mentally ill should be sterilized so that they don't procreate. It really kind of blew my mind. What do you believe?
