Some of getting into a post graduate program is based on minimum GRE scores. You gotta be smart enough to do that.
GRE has an analytical part that involves logic, abstraction, use of symbols, deductions, things that you have to decently intelligent to do.
Once you are in the program, you need to be able to show proficiency in clinical skills, but understanding assessment, appraisal and statistical analysis is a part of that. Alot of people struggle with statistics and this takes some brains too.
Statistically you have better chance on getting into med school then a clinical psych program. Something to consider.

It's got nothing to do with intelligence. A close friend of mine was recently ejected from his psychology program for falling asleep on a client during his clinical trials for psychology. He is one of the most brilliant guys I've ever known, but has the people skills of a boulder.
With psychology, "smarts" are only 1/3 of the equation. People skills are another 1/3, and sheer persistance is the final 1/3.

Hard work and perseverance definitely count for a lot more in psychology than just intelligence. Psychology is an oversatuated field and a lot of research work you do there is simply a repetition of work many, many others have conducted.
It's a fun field of study, but I would definitely consider investing your time in earning a doctorate in something else. My public high school psychology professor had a pHD, and I always thought she was overqualified for her position, but that's just what's available in an oversaturated field.

You need to have a GREAT G.R.E score as well, as a high gpa in undergrad as well as grad school (master's degree). It will also help if you have some excellent reference/letters of recommendation from your past professors.
Good luck
