Or do you still want the same things you did when you were younger?

I still need food, shelter and sex; that hasn't changed.
Now I need them them all better!
Question for you CLF: are our wants different than out needs?
When I was much younger I wanted much more than I needed.
Now that I'm, uh, 'old', I'm not so sure anymore!

I think life expectations change depending on the person. The older a person gets, they may realize that anything worth having is worth working for. People realize they need to set goals in order to achieve what they want. It also has to do with attitude. If you have a negative outlook on life, than your expectations can change, because you've never achieved what you had hoped to. Or even if you have a positive outlook on life, your goals can change. Maybe something you thought you wanted turned out to be not what you wanted at all. My life expectations have not changed much. I've usually accomplished the things I set out to do.

It did changed a lot bcoz as you get older you experienced so many things. Sometimes you do something which you regret afterwards. If i can only turn back the time and do the right things that i should have done maybe my life expectations would be different now.

I have changed a lot since I was younger. I used to want to be a writer but that changed. I still want to get married but I don't want kids like I used to. There's just a lot that's changed about me since I'm older. I think you'll find that most people are going to be that way.

Yes, I do. Not only expectations change but also my personal values too. When I'm younger than this I always have high hope and tend to expect things which does not reflect reality and society. Now, I develop values and expectations which is agreeable with reality and society.

I'm not that old now (only sixteen) but they have changed. I used to want to grow up and have a nice job like a vet and get married and have children and live in the country, much as every small girl does. Now, however, I want to live in a town flat, go to uni (Cambridge/?) and do a Theology or Spanish degree and have a really cool job, like interpreter. I'm not expecting it to be a bed of roses any more, and am much more ambitious.

They have changed because I think when I was younger I lived in la la land and didnt realise until now how hard it really is to achieve things in this life and that mistakes from being young and naive can have a nasty way of holding you back.

I still want the same things, safety, love, security, all that stuff. I think what has changed is how I see myself getting those things. As one ages it is so easy to slip into an ultra-defensive mode.

there is lot of change in the thinking with gaining more and more experience, not necessarily the age. compared to 20 years back, today i feel like having reached a near perfection stage.
