why do people lie?

Well, most people lie to protect themselves from having to pay the penalties of telling the truth. There are however, some individuals that are compulsive liars, who just lie because that is their natural impulse, and they always want to respond to it. I don't know if anyone has ever tried to determine why compulsive liars do what they do.

I knew a guy one time that would tell such outrageous fabrications that no one ever believed any of them. He was the only one who ever believed anything he said. Yes, I really think that he believed his own fabrications, though, I can't see how anyone could be that out of touch with reality.

1. They are selfish, and don't care who they hurt.
2. To get their own way
3. To get out of trouble.
4. Some people lie because the're vindictive, and want revenge on someone.
5. Sometimes people will tell little white lies. For example, if someone asks how you're doing, and you reply good,but your really not good. You may just be trying to avoid telling a long story, even though people may not really expect you to tell them what's wrong.

people lie when they are affraid of what will happen when they tell the truth....this is often for selfish gain, but sometimes it is for others. Either way, telling the truth always turns out better. I should know, I"ve been on both sides of that fence.

there are so many reasons why people lie...here are the reasons: they lie:
a. to hide their ineptidude
b. to not hurt anyone
c. to not hurt themselves
d. to not make things worse
e. to not make things better..
f. for money
g. to retain a relationship
h. to un-retain a relationship

well, you get the picture, people lie because they NEED to lie. period.

its not our act... its an act by god that we are made to say lie for that critical situation.....
lie is also a good feeling unless it doesnot hurt others*
