Apologise effectively

I look the person in the eyes and tell them I am truly sorry for what I said or did. I only apologize when it is heartfelt, not just because I "should". I also am not afraid to ask for forgiveness from that person. It always makes us both feel better.

I look at the person, state what I did wrong, and apologise sincerely. If I don't mean it, I don't apologise.

I tell them how I understand ___(I am wrong, inconsiderate, etc.)___ and that I apologize.
Now situational, it depends... relationship wise, I say "What I did was __uncalled__ for and if you want to leave or do what you need to do, than fine". Every person has a right to do what they want, and you have a right to.... but don't let THEM control you and DON'T try to control them.
Such as if you mess up at a job and know you did, you say you understand, don't let it happen again, and that you are prepared for the repercussions.....
Trying to persuade is wrong.... if they accept, they accept. If they don't and leave or anything else, than that is in their right.

i have a sad face and say "i'm sorry, please forgive me". If it's needed, i explain why. I apologise only if it's true and that i did hurt someone!

I make sure the apology comes from the heart. It has to be sincere or it sounds phoney.
