I suppose you were bound to get a whole bunch of people saying they are not afraid of dying weren't you and I am no different. If I am scared of anything then it would be leaving those people behind that I love without ever being able to help them again.
Reminds me of Monty Python in the final scenes of Life of Brian: "Ya come from nuffin, ya going back to nuffin ... what ya lost ? Nuffin !" .... Always look on the bright side of life. : )

Your theory would be hardly likely to cheer anyone up although to many people there is a sort of reality in it.
As a Christian I know there is something more! I have a promise of Eternal life and fully believe that I will be in Heaven when I die so I have no fear of death whatsoever. I became Christian in 1991 and have never looked back.......I didn't used to like me much before then but now I reckon I am an O.K guy, since I have had a relationship with the 'living God'
That path is open to anyone...being a part of Gods family is great and not a bit like I had imagined before. Don't knock it until you know all the facts I say (although I used to myself)
Best wishes, MIke.

No not at all. Im not particulary scared of dying I just dont want to die yet.
I had an operation in December that lasted nearly four hours. I had never been to sleep before and I imagine that is the closest u can get to dying. It was a horrible feeling to wake up and have just completely lost four hours. for one minute it was half nine and I was giggling with nerves and the next it was the afternoon and I was being sick. I just cant stand the fact that all these things happened to my body while I wasnt there. Its not like I was a sleep because I didnt dream and if ur asleep sound or movement makes u wake up. It was just horrible. Its like I was dead for four hours and my body was still alive.I suppose though when ur dead u dont wake up being sick, if there is no afterlife u are just closed shut.

I'm not scared of dying, life can be just as scary sometimes, although I hope there's a good few years yet before I go. As they say we should live for the day as if it's your last because you're a long time dead!!

It does a little bit, but what I am scared of is not being able to enjoy this world forever and being in eternal nothingness and being AWARE of it. If I had a choice I would either be immortal or a ghost so I can stay on this earth forever.

Although I understand your theory; we're not technically "nothing" before birth, we're all still energy, but in a different form.
We have no conscious memory of what happened or what we were before our births - what if the fear of death is in fact a fear of returning to "nothingness" (losing You, your life experience, etc)...
You cannot have a fear of loss when you don't exist, and have nothing to lose.

I'm not scared of what happens after I die, just of the actual dying process. When i think about it, if there is an afterlife then you don't really die anyway, and if there is nothing, then i will not know about it, so why should that bother me?

When I was younger I was afraid of dying, but as I have matured, lived and dealt with the ups and downs of life, and I have also taken care of my elderly Mother with Alzheimer's, so I now look at death differently, I am no longer afraid and will welcome the peace. God Bless.
