i learned how to play pool many years back. as i practiced, i saw some imporovement. i never got good at it, but i had enough success with the game to keep me interested when i played. AND i told myself that if i practiced more, i'd probably get even better.

how successful do you need to be at trying something new to keep you interested in it? does success have any bearing at all on your efforts? any examples welcome... thank you.

Is there anyone else out there who is seemingly unable to "connect" with others? Don't get me wrong. I get along with other people and I am fairly close with my family members, but I do not have strong or close relationships with friends at all. I am over 30 years old and the last time that I had a "real" friend was probably during my childhood. I have many acquaintances, but I just don't seem to really "click" with anyone in a way that "best friends" do. What could be the reason for this? Are any of you in a similar situation? I would sincerely appreciate your opinions and comments regarding this matter. Thanks in advance for responding!

This French guy was giving a speech in French. He was holding a cross, so I wondered what he was talking about. So someone told me he's saying, "That Jesus spoke to him in a vision." But the guy didn't speak French, which he admitted. He said, "he has a cross, what else could he be talking about, but Jesus."

So I ignored him and asked someone who spoke French. That person told me that they were opening up a new church down the street. So the first person I asked was mad at me for not accepting what he said it meant.

Was I wrong to ignore the person who didn't speak the language to ask someone who did what the speech was about? Should I have given the first guy any credibility, knowing he doesn't speak or understand the language?

There is this woman I know. She has said to me that she can't stand it when she is hanging out with someone or a bf and there isn't a conversation going on. Her oldest brother got kicked out of the house at a young age. But she is still living with her parents. She comes from a large family of 4 she is the second oldest. She also told me about when she was fishing with her dad that she caught something and her dad didn't help her instead her dad helped her brother and she lost the fish. Another time she told me she was hunting with her dad and there was a dead buck and she fell into some muddy water. She also seems to get mad whenever its at the end of when we were hanging out.

I just want to understand this woman and want her to be happy. She keeps sticking in my head and I just want some answers to better understand this person.

My name is Hayley and I’m doing my honours in psychology. My research aims to contribute to our knowledge of depression and psychological well-being, and has the potential to contribute to different strategies on how to increase psychological well-being (and decrease depression) in Australia. My thesis is on individualism and collectivism in different communities, and their relationship to psychological well-being and depression. I’m sure you’ll agree that this is particularly important considering how common the experience of depression is in Australia.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could take 10 to 15 minutes of your time to complete the survey in the link below. You do not need to have any direct personal experience with depression in order to complete the survey. Thankyou!!

Just click on the link below, or if this does not work copy the link and paste it into your web browser...

I am a decent looking and considered "cute" by some people. I noticed that when men talk to me they do not make any eye contact with me. When an ugly or unattractive girl deals with them, they make eye contact. Is it because they are shy? Please let me know!
