In fact the stories of ghosts etc. have been used since traditions to be precautious in life and not to be over confident and careless. For example, while passing through the forest or fields during night one has to be causious about breathing due to presence of relatively higher percentage of carbon di-oxide ,but if one is careless and does not control his breathing then he may get fainted or unconscious or similar situation may arise, which in general is described as ghost. If, one is careful enough in all his actions and reactions he may not have to face any ghost.

Yes, I have too much personal proof not to believe in ghosts. I grew up thinking I was crazy concerning what was happening in my house, but one day I had company over for the night and they witnessed everything. It was a terrible awakening, because I would rather be crazy!

It has some conflict with my stance as an atheist though, and leaves a lot more to be explained.

I wish I could be an unbeliever and one of the ones that calls us crazy.

But some sort of entity has saved my life, so I should not complain.

Maybe as left over energies from spirits, I don't think ghosts are actual 'beings'. If you're being haunted by anything, it would be a spirit rather than a ghost.
If you feel like you're being haunted, maybe you should look into other causes first, then if nothing seems to be explaining it, consult someone who might be able to help you with this kind of situation.

Hi,

I am a parapsychologist and retired counselor. I have done a lot of research and have written articles about the paranormal for various websites.

Ghosts, according to survivalist theory, are what survives the death of the physical body. They are called by different names such as spirit, entitiy, apparition, haunting and phantom. Parapsychology is the scientific study of psychic phenomena done without bias.

I have studied ghosts since I was eleven and read my first parapsychology book. Adults told me ghosts were my imagination, but I learned that there is a lot of evidence to support their existence. I have counseled people who have experienced ghosts, have investigated psychic phenomena, have given talks about the subject, have tested people for ESP and psychokinesis (Ability of the mind to afffect matter), and have had my own experiences. I believe there is a lot of evidence to support the belief that we survive the death of the phyysical body. The evidence has been tested in scientific laboratories and field work.

Something that we cannot explain by the scientific method exists.

I have not read about a ghost hurting people in parapsychological literature. Usually when people have these experiences, the first reaction is fear. the next is that one is going "crazy" and the last is if people tell others about the experience, others will think they are "crazy."

One time, when I was being interviewed, I was asked what I say to skeptics. My answer is for them to prove to me that the phenomena does not exist.

Please do be careful about which websites you get information on. Too many of them are sensationalistic and distort things to scare people.

The Parapsychology Foundation, America Society for Psychical Research, Society of Psychical Research, Psychic Explorers Club and the Rhine Research Center are excellent sources of information.

i believe in spirits. Which are also referred to as ghosts at times. As far as you being haunted I truly believe that you are spooking yourself. You've Probably heard from time to time the mind is a powerful thing well that is completely true! When i was younger i moved into my first apt. i use to hear and feel things behing me all the time. I was constantly scared to be by myself and always asking one of friends or my bfriend to stay over. But i finally got over it i learned that there are a billion and one reasons you can hear noises or see reflections/shadows. So that leads to scaring yourself and feeling like someone is watching you. Try to brush it off as much as possible it really is all in your control. No Worries :-)

Nothing makes a believer out of you like seeing one.
i never believed in such nonsense or so I thought until
sometime back in the 70s I was on a Florida beach at night and saw a ghost appear, It was a female dressed in long clothes with a shawl and a bonnet on her head. I just thought it must be a person but I couldn't imagine why anybody would be on the beach dressed like that. she was serenely
facing the sea. Then as I stared real hard, she began to fade away until she was gone, then I knew it was a ghost. About 5 years later I read in a book about St. Augustine florida where this lady was seen and it told who she was and when she lived, she had many sightings. Most of my family doesn;t believe me about this story but it is true, they don''t believe in ghosts because they never saw one. This incident happened on a beach outside St. Augustine.Never have seen anythink like it again...and that's my story.

You know I do, but what's weird, and I don't mean to like offend you by this or anything, is that I am a Christian and I believe that if you are saved when you die you go to heaven you know, so I believe in ghosts but I'm like confused as of who they would be and why didn't they like "cross over" you know? I've had that feeling before too, I sware I saw a ghost once, in this house I lived in it was a farm house built in the 1800's, no joke, it was awesome, but I sware it was haunted, and I've like been in one room and heard voices in another, and no im not crazy, but when i go in there they are gone, when no one else was home. So yeah I do but its baffaling

yea i believe in ghosts... i dont believe in psychics... they are so full of crap. and i saw this video where a scientist explained how there is a noise that can be caused by a cieling fan that is so low you dont hear it and it can cause some things to move back and forth even with the door closed and it can cause you to see things out of the corner of your eye. so you might not have a ghost at all. it could just be a raelly really low sound thats causing you to see things and causing things to make some noises

yes I believe in ghosts. I sometimes think there is one in our home. My mom and my sister has even seen a dark figure standing over them while they were in bed. And my brother had an encounter with one as well. When he was younger he knocked something off his dresser and when he bent over to pick it up he said something blew on the back of his neck...and when he turned around nothing was there. I could tell you a ton of true ghost stories.

I don't believe.

But i'm always afraid, just like you.
When i am alone or even with my friend, i think of the ghost movie i've watched and feel someone's behind me and i always run to room and bang close the door to try to keep them out.

Really be afraid of staying alone. LOL
