My work desided to start me at 6 AM from now on! I usually always started work at around 2-3 o'clock in the afternoon and have gotten used to that. And I usually stay up until the wee hours of the morning. But NOW I got to start getting ready for work at 4:15 AM!

How can I adjust to this time change without being useless at work because of little sleep?

I am a white male, straight laced , straight arrow, served in the military, decent guy, never laid a hand on anyone in my life. Twice in my life a punk racist teenager sucker punched me on my lower right jaw from behind, breaking left lower jaw at critical times in my life. Luckily, the first time, in Hawaii I had a good doctor. The second time happened on Christmas Day in 1999 by a black gang. I had sh*tty doctors, 3 surgeries and now I am f*cked for life! Breathing, eating, pain are problems. In both instances robbery was NOT the motive. They broke my jaw and laughed about it and simply walked away. Anyone who has had a broken jaw knows what I am talking about. It's hard for me not to be racist. I can't carry a gun, but I wear special spy equipment, ie videoglasses that record every second of my day through a special video camera inside my glasses. I carry mace. These punks are not men. If you are in a gang you are NOT a man. What happened to you? How do you deal?

Hey, I have a research job interview (work study) that involves the study of autism. I am particularily interested in anything psychological (I am an incoming psych major, but I have no formal education on the topic :( ), especially conditions people may have, specifically on the pediatric level.

The problem is that the only thing I know about autism is that people living with autism have difficulty adjusting to new settings and are very talented in a specific area they've attached themselves to. But I think I would need to know more for my interview, so does anyone know some SHORT and TO-THE-POINT information about the main topics concerning autism?!

Thanks a lot!!!

If, for the price of forever giving up your biggest, most detrimental, most harmful secret to everyone you meet, you can know the honest answer to any one question you can ask, would you take the deal and what would be the question? What if you was offered a chance to ask two questions, but you had to give up your two biggest secrets?

are we all just in love with the idea of love?

is that why we choose to stay in relationships even if it sucks big time?

or is it the need to care for someone that's making us stay?

I'm talking about anyone, not just possible relationships. What do you seem to notice most about other people?
Is it something physical, like part of their appearance?
Or is it something about their inner self, like their personality?

Could I ever change my mind?

This person seems to make a point of not giving me what I want, has shown a certain propensity for self-centeredness and is hypersensitive to my disagreements. She has also put me on the spot when I am in the more vulnerable position in order to punish me for my disagreement (a disagreement in which I had the better argument, meaning that she couldn't refute it intellectually). But here's the thing. She shows some discomfort when doing it, like she's unable to face me directly when doing it. For example, if we were in the same room, she'd have to go do something on the end opposite to me right after putting me on the spot. It is easier for her to be cold and mean over the phone or in a social setting where she's in control and there are other people. In a more personal plane she can be nasty but when I react by leaving she tries to make amends. We had an educational relationship and she was never unfair grades-wise but she played some mean waiting games. I don't know what to think.

When he was born his Mom couldnt care for him emotionally ( at 6 months old a family member described him as "blank, no emotions at all") He was given to family members - 3 "sisters" (cousins) who loved him dearly and showed him great affection, and his aunt who showed him a love-hate relationship (she was mentally ill and physically abused him often if he acted out). He was eventually taken from there and put into foster care where he rebelled and ended up in juvinile detention until he turned 18. He has also been thru a lot of loss and trauma involving the death of family members and others close to him. When his past is so involved and confusing - where does he start? How does he "fix" himself? The desire is there, but we are both overwhelmed with his past. He functions fairly well overall - does that mean he is supressing his emotions? Is it possible someone could go thru so much and be "okay"?

i go to the wal mart barefoot all the time. people sometimes give nasty looks. people say it's because "no one wants to see your feet" and then they follow it up with "at least put on some flip flops!". with flip flops you can still see the whole foot, so why is it wrong one way, and not wrong the other?????

Can a dog or cat, when they do something that people would turn red over, feel the emotion of embarrassment. Or if a large number of people were laughing at a cat / dog ?

A question that has plagued men for a long time. Just to clarify, my love for cars comes for a great part from the fascination of how engineers and mechanics can tune and tweek a machine of over 1000 parts to make a nice ride. Or my fascination with firearms comes solely from the fascination of how one can balance a few metal parts so finely that it can hit a target with pin point precision up to 1000 yards away. All my male friends look towards there interests pretty much the same. I have never been able to explain this view to a woman: to most of you a car is just 4 wheels and an engine that drive you places, or a gun is just something for hunting or killing. Do any of the ladies here feel differently? Why or why not
