Will you save your immediately family member(blood related)(i.e. mom, dad, brother, sister)?

or

Your friend(not blood related)(i.e. you grew up together or you've met in junior high, high school, college, or at work) whom you both care about deeply?

When both are hanging by a rope that's about to break that's saving them from 500 feet to their death.
They both are hanging from a separate rope about 50 feet apart. You are in the middle. You only have time to save one & there's nobody else around to save the other.

You cannot sacrafice them both. You have to make a choice. One or the other. There's no middle ground. They are about to fall. You have no time to think. You need to make decision now. Sorry.

And why did you make that choice?

Has anyone spent much time in consideration of sports fandom?

I just asked a question about NASCAR fans, and I found that while a few were willing to attribute me innocent ignorance of the sport (not really accurate) most assumed I was a real idiot and couldn't figure out what made NASCAR so cool (er... "country" as one fan put it).

So, I'll try my question again here:

What causes someone to become a NASCAR fan? Drivers? Teams? Sponsors? Heritage?

Those of us without children are often told that our opinions are groundless...as we could never understand the real plight. However, I believe we have objectivity on our side...and that validates our views considerably.

My view is that parents of the youth today really stink at their role (generalization, of course). Parents who teened and twentied in the 80s/90s have been willing victims of the 'therapy' culture...labelling bad behavior and attitudes with terms of acceptable dysfunction. And now, they are passing that crap on to their kids.

The generation I see today is disrespectful, lazy, rude and display a ridiculous sense of entitlement. And the parents seem to stand by and allow it. They seem to want to be their kids' friends, rather than parents! They indulge their every whim, and ensure that they are clad in the most recent and trendy fashion fads. Punishments are shortlived, and the threats of such hold no sincerity.

How did parenting get this messed up?

I left my home in 7th grade and only seen it once since then.
I'm going to be a senior in college and I still can't tear myself away from it. When the weather gets a certain way, or if I smell certain things or hear certain things, I get caught up in nostalgia and it can make me miserably depressed for days or weeks at a time.

I went to one counselor about it and she said I should move back there, but that's completely unpractical and I'll most likely never see the place again.

so should I be preparing to feel this miserable the rest of my life or is there some way to overcome this?

I believe that some students should be allowed to do so, but that some criteria must be met first (the following are only some of them)-

Why do I ask this question? As some of you may have seen on the news, the idea is to arm innocent law abiding students so that they may thwart another massacre like the one at VA Tech this week. The student would have a weapon, and hence, would have a chance to defend him/herself as well as others from a deranged gunman.

I think that there should be some kind of extensive course on gun safety provided to any student who wishes to carry a concealed gun on a school grounds. Also, a professional shooter should provide one on one instruction, and the student should also target practice, and become familiar with the weapon.

Of course, any student with this sort of privilege should also be held accountable if something were to happen, and the weapon were misappropriated or otherwise used in an irresponsible manner.

What do you think about this?

They show up at your door right when you are sitting down to dinner or sleeping in on saturdays, they preach at your local grocery store, they go to our colleges, they work with you and in passing mention the word of christ, where to you draw the line. If you are not religious how do you politely tell them to go screw themselves. If you are religious, why would you try to force someone into something that it is obvious that they have already made up their mind on??

I learned in my physical anthropology class that we are not to put the blame on HIM - but on us.

Humans evolved to be social - evolved as a group. Now, particularly in the U.S., it is individual success that is praised. As a result, loners are more likely to exist. He had no social support group. This is why he got paranoia (thought everyone was against him) and acted out to such an extreme level.

Question Details: was his girlfriend asian? (haven't been watching all the networks), i know there was one asian guy posting here questions, saying "white" people taking all asian's stuff, and said now white men taking their women and girlfriends, was glad to see some asian girls post that that is their decision and no one "takes" them or forces them as to who they wish to date or go with. some girls have posted on here that he didn't like females, don't know who he was stalking (never showed, as usual), but did anyone see on another network that he was ticked off his "girlfriend" (don't know how he managed to have one) was going around on him with another guy, i wouldn't blame her, if she wanted to get away from him : )

Just a hypothetical scenario:
If you're in charge of a $45,000 purchase order for your company, you are the key person and the only and the fully-authorized person to do this transaction on behalf of your company. Therefore, you found a vendor and give this lucky vendor your huge purchase order.

The chosen vendor was very happy to receive such a great deal from your company and especially your help on closing the deal with them.

The president of the vendor gives $4,500 cash to you and said it's a "commission" for you and it's how he wanted to show his appreciation. (Because it's all Cash, it's not trackable, as he claimed.)

How would you handle this situation?
