You live in North America, you are North American. I am not against multiculturalism or the hotpot, but we do have certain standards and just as immigrants and refugees need to learn English, they need to respect the values of the larger culture. I see Africans, Eastern Europeans, Hispanics, Jews and other groups bend over backwards. Even Natives want to get with the times while keeping their language and traditions on the side.

But say with this stand-off in Caledonia, it is a different issue. Canadians should not be banned from showing their own flag. It is not that I am going to rip up an Ethiopian or American flag, but it is Canada. It is one thing to speak Cree and go to the cultural and arts center twice a week and a whole other thing to be militant and separatist. It is one thing to be a moderate or conservative Muslim and a whole other thing to support the agenda of extremists.

I live in Manhattan, New York City and am wondering where and what sort of classes/groups I can participate in that will help improve my ability to speak better in front of groups, handle people better, etc.

Can anyone direct me in the right path to finding the most helpful tools?

Thanks.

Would you admit that the Devil has granted at least one of your wishes - I am referring to the wish that JC would never ever grant you and yet you got it? Then shouldn't you at least be a little nicer to him... or be friends?

I was reading through some of the Q and A's on this site, and I just HAD to make an account. I CANNOT believe some of the questions on this thing. Some of them are CRAZED. Like have you ever come across a question that just made you stop think "WTF?" One where you just HAD to reread it, just to make sure your mind was processing it correctly?

This really got me thinking so I just HAD to comment on it and I wanted to ask: What is the FUNNIEST post you have ever read on this website?

This question below is the one that finally drove me to create an account! So i'm now just wondering, can ANYTHING top this one? Is so, provide a link and prove it!

People are just getting by in this world and yet because a person plays the sport of his passion he has the right to make millions of dallars? where is the justice? They should be caped off and make no more than $100,000 (each player) and the rest goes to starving people around the world. How is that for justice?

My biggest complaint is the left-brainers think differently. They think everything is done a certain way,at a certain time, blah ! No creativity Writing left to right and not being able to see what I just wrote causes a problem. Also the reels on fishing poles wind backwards when I hold them upside down,to make it lefty friendly .Right-handed silverware makes me crazy, when the handles curve left poking my hand.Righties just don't understand. We would have good penmanship if the situation were reversed, say writing from right to left,or if a freaking door nob actually opened on the correct side for once,or a light switch actually was there when you reached around a wall to flip it on.If this isn't discrimination what is ? One day we will rise up,just to make things right-,er ...LEFT, so you can see what it's like to live in a bizzaro world where everything in everyday life is just a little out of kilter, just enough to drive drive you CRAZY !!!

I had my car fixed at a garage. The day I went to pick it up, while I wait for my car to be pulled up for me to pick up, I asked one of the mechanics a question to fill in the silence while we waited. The dialog went like this:

Me: "Hey, do you have a brother who owns a towing service? I had my car towed one time and I remembered that he looked just like you".

The mechanic went to speak to the other guy in the shop (who was the guy that towed my car) who was working on fixing another car. And then he went off saying how much that guy didn't look anything like him.

The mechanic: "He may act like me and try to be me. But he ain't me." And then he continued for a bit and refered to me talking to the towing guy. "He (me, the asker of this question) just insulted me without even knowing it.". And I detected that he was upset

So can you explain to me how I insulted him?

I just moved into my own place and everyone kept asking when the house warming party was going to be and what they should bring. I've never even heard of a house warming party until just recently and I'm not sure what the proper procedure or what is expected? I have a fairly small one bedroom with limited parking and tons of friends and family who wish to be invited. Any ideas? Advise? Recipes? Games?

Women are slaves to society?
I have seen that men don't give a cra.p how they look, and they pursue various intellectual endevours. Women are supposedly equal to men yet they act and their actions and manners are so slave like and meant merely to attract and for the pleasure of men. Like I understood that in High School the girls are of low I.Q and intellect and that's why they use their sexual allure, but in University I expected things to change, but seemingly they haven't.What are the reasons that led to such socia-relations between the two genders, do women still feel that they are not of equal status or are they just liking being servants to the will of man.

This question on and off occur in my head these years since the young teen girl passed away suddenly. I hadnt seen her for quite a while before hearing the sad news. It said it was because the medicine she'd been used for a while. She was quietly lying in bed when found in the morning. Why the medicine really kill a person like that? would there be more involved? She was an very unhappy girl at the time because the family problem and lived alone.
