Improving speaking and social skills class?

Question

I live in Manhattan, New York City and am wondering where and what sort of classes/groups I can participate in that will help improve my ability to speak better in front of groups, handle people better, etc.

Can anyone direct me in the right path to finding the most helpful tools?

check with the local community college, high school night courses, or local college for public speaking courses.
