WILL THE AMERICAN ECONOMY SUFFER? Is there a depression ahead?

2006-08-21 08:17:45 · 9 answers · asked by Private S.C. 1

The politicians continually vote themselves raises but won't raise minimum wage.

The politicians and their families recieve free health care, the very best there is, but millions go without any healthcare at all in this country.

People on social security are told there might not be enough money down the road, but we send billions of money to other countries.

The president is saying on TV right now that millions will be sent to the middle east to build what never even existed before, yet there are millions homeless and without jobs right here.

Sure, they're pretty faces and they represent the brand and all, but why are they being paid SO high? Why does a woman who just sits in front of the camera get paid more than a lawyer working their butt off, in some cases? What about their profession warrants their high salaries? What is it that they do that's so special? Are they just paid to be "beautiful"? I think that's utterly ridiculous, if not discriminatory.

Like, Suzy Parker being the first model to make $100 a day and $100,000 a year. And Linda Evangelista saying she doesn't get out of bed for less than $10,000. Why do they get multi-million dollar contracts with brands just to pose? They're not doing anything productive for society.

I have traveled alot and met ppl form everywhere and the ones who know least about the world are americans. Why is that? You belive you are the richest, you are in trillions of dollars worth of debt! You act condescendingly to other cultures. I have noticed this trend my whole life and even with sons of immigrants do thier best to seperate themselves from thire cultures. What is wrong with you ( not all of you but alot , well most) ! I mean according to studies Americans are less educated than french, Japanese , English , Belge, german and many others because schools here are pretty bad.

Please try to keep within the standards set out in my first Challenge Question, which also apply to the second one.

Argue on the side of them being successful or unsuccessful, using either the long or short term approach, though opinions might vary on what is long term; I presume less so for the short term. Use real examples that fit most definitions, as well as hypothetical examples using both large and small populations. Can it work in either?
