$1.10
I know this because the old gas station next to my house still has a faded sign up that says $1.10! *tear*

I just started driving 10 years ago, I lived in CA at the time and I was paying just over $1 for a gallon of gas.

I remember pay 99 cents a gallon for gas in 2000.
Hell, I remember paying as little at 15 cents a gallon for gas back in 1963.
I can recall a guy who would go to get 3 gallons of gas and a pack of smokes for a dollar. (That's 1966)

Hm.. I was like 8. I think I remember gas being like 80 cents depending on the area. But, remember in Europe its like 5 bucks+ a gallon. So, we really don't have it that bad.

The price (EXCLUDING TAXES) ranged from 65-85 cents per gallon during 1996. Taxes typically added around 50 cents/gal back then, depending on where you were, so do the math.

I still remember the last time I saw gas for 99.9 cents, I was 11 so it was 10 years ago... But the average price was probably 1.25 or so.

As I recall, about $1.10-$1.20.
During Desert Storm in 1990-1991, gas was $1.40-$1.50 for a while.
