I totally agree 100%. I think this new generation, for the most part is so worried with sounding "cool" that they don't realize how uneducated they sound. It comes from some cultures wanting to act like others - or races, if you prefer though I thought cultures was more PC. (ahh I shortened that for politically correct) Things were not like this back when I was in school which was not that long ago - what ever happenend to reading and sounding intelligent? It has all been traded for quick technology and short text messages and I think it is a shame. That is why I am glad I was in school when I was - papers were done by really researching in the library and not just searching the internet. I typed most of my reports on an electric typewriter. haha - I must sound like I am at least 40 but I am 28 - so this was not that long ago. I recently went back to come courses at college and it was totally different - people with laptops taking notes instead of notebooks, cell phones everywhere and while this technology is so useful, I think it should not be the only method of doing these things - people are getting very, very lazy. There is a button or gadget for everything and it is taking a toll on society. It really is a shame - it isn't cool, it is ridiculous. It really is - now it takes too much effort to say entire words - talk about lazy. This generation doesn't do anything by themselves and later in life, it will show.

Okay.. here I will quote the saying: " Practice what your preach!"

Firstly, I do see your point BUT- why then didn't you check your spelling -at least by using spell check anyway . You say people should take more time to read..."After all is might be fun!"?

Secondly, why point out other people mistakes when you are doing the same yourself?

Useing < incorrect
Using < correct

Tho < use words that " are bigger" as you said... such as though.

The rest of your sentence is just mumble jumble - sorry!

It's one thing to use it for quick chatter on a messenger, and also just to shorten things for convenience. It's another to purposely try to sound dumb...I don't quite get that, but I suppose it's a whole new form of slang that we'll have to adapt to on the net. I avoid the ones here that are too blatently done up....they're usually kids anyways.

I'm a special ed teacher and I think that internet 'chat' lingo just makes it easier and faster to be able to talk online. It is sort of like a secretary using shorthand. If it messes up a person's ability to remember how to spell correctly, then that's a problem.

You do realize that you typed 'tho' during your rant about shortening words. Yikes.

Not really...but I would keep it limited to the computer world...it's just a form of computer abbreviations to me.
