Im doing a level psychology at school and this was mentioned. I might as well just quote the textbook.
"Less well known are the monthly rhythms affecting males. In one study, 21 male participants had their body temperature and mood measured over periods varying from 49 to 102 days. The study found some evidence for a periodic variation of both body temperature and subjective ratings of morning alertness, with a cycle length of approximately 20m days (Empson, 1977)."

Can anyone expand on that with any interesting information?

Personally i would like to add, another monthly rhythm that affects males is the female menstruation cycle :P

I have a conflict at work that I am not sure how to resolve. I had a excrcise ball stolen from my cubicle. I feel a co-worker took it because they were annoyed with me throwing the ball up in the air and catching it. The ball isnt worth much ,but I feel like my space was violated. What should I do?

And I'm probably guilty of this too. But in the answers to the question posted below, I noticed several women posters (assumption based on name and/or avatar) who were demeaning other women, either for *only having basic people skills* or for *being homemakers or stay at home wives being the equivalent of prostitutes*

Why are women some of their own worst enemies? Why do women demean each other's choices so much? How can we ever expect men to respect and admire us if we can't even do it?

i dreamt that my father and i were held up by a gang. one of the gang members began by speaking in some kind of tongue, and then he took out a sharp cross and stabbed my father in the head with the cross. i was watching, quite calmly as the blood ran down his head and into his eyes.

my parents have recently split and the divorce was extremly messy, the divorce left my brother and i alone with my mother, with no communication with my father. I am 17 and i have no idea what this dream could mean.

When i woke up i was not afraid or upset about my experience. why?

I mean, it's not the mother's fault that she had a child and doesn't know who the father is, but ALL men share a collective responsibility, since they all could potentially father and subsequently abandon the woman and child.

Whaddya think of this great idea?

I think it was Canegie or Vanderbilt who helped exemplify this term. It is where you control all areas of production from the ground up. In other words, if you were making a tshirt, you would own the cotton fields, the cotton processing plants, the thread making facilities, and the plants that actually wove the tshirts. I should know the word but it has been nearly a decade since I took the class and learned the term.

What about that 5% of cases that go unaccounted for, and are unexplained, what about that fraction of phenomena?... It's not PROOF that they exist, but certainly, in the least, is should stir some doubt? That small percentage is always conveniently being forgotten about, when close-minded people are quick to reject the notion of UFOs...

The same thing, with the paranormal...

Are some people just afraid of the possibility?
( I know I'm going to be ridiculed for this question... )

But seriously... what do you guys think?

i am fascinated with the recent explosion in the number of escorts, pole dancers, cam girls, etc. that there seems to be these days.
why do women choose these careers in the first place? and why all of a sudden are so many making that choice? what has changed from, say, 20 years ago? i don't buy that it is because of the internet.
i was discussing this with a woman friend; and she believes that all women in the sex trade have been sexually-molested at some point in their childhood. i don't agree with that. my own theory is that it is a combination of :
1. "big money, fast"?
2. vanity/validation ("i'm such a hot looking chick, X number of guys are lining up to pay X amount of money to be with me/look at me")?
3. "i love sex; i'm promiscuous anyway - i might as well get paid for it?"
4. "i'm rebelling against conformity"?
i saw a documentary on tv recently where one escort said she knew she wanted to be an escort since she was 12 or 13! that's gotta make you wonder!

I'm not a nut-case or a substance abuser... nor do I have any clinical mental illness (that I'm aware of), but I tend to have these strange sensations when everything going on around me is like a dream, not reality. It's NOT daydreaming. And it's not just feeling tired. It's like I check-out from reality for a bit. I see what's going on, but I feel like I'm not completely present. (I'm not crazy!! Although it sounds that way)
It's almost as if its some form of microsleep...or escape... not sure how to describe it. Sometimes it occurred at times when I was tired/sleep deprived, but other times I was well rested.

Fortunately, it hasn't happened for a while. It was at its peak during my teenage years, and I never spoke to anyone about it.

Anyone else had the same experience? Any experts reading this?
(And, please, serious answers only)
