The problem I see with many people's views of capital punishment is not actually punishing the criminal but as their personal desire to get rid of what they consider to be the dregs of society. That is, poor and minority people. Our justice system is hopelessly skewed against them. A rich murderer can literally get away with it from being able to buy the best justice possible while a poor person can't. Look at the examples of OJ Simpson, Phil Spector, Robert Blake, Michael Skakel, and the Menendez brothers. All these people were able to delay justice almost indefinitely or get away with murder simply because they were rich. This is one reason why I can't support the death penalty

You are confusing two beliefs and trying to mesh them as one. It is true than many Conservatives are pro-life as well as for capital punishment. As it is true that most liberals are pro-choice but against the capital punishment. So you see, you could quite easily turn it all around.

But I think it is unfair to assume that people of either belief is a perfect mold to that belief.

Why would you be surprised at the lack of rationale utilized by those who value a microscopic blob over a woman, her partner, and her family?

I am a pro-Lifer...and I believe in Hammurabi's Code...an eye for an eye...a tooth for a tooth.
An unborn child has no free will therefore doesnt have the option to choose.
A murderer does....most murderers are rational people...they just snap, and think killing their husband or wife is ok ...and the SOB might not get convicted because they were under emotional distress at the time.
If you dont wanna do the time...then dont do the crime

because it is not actually about the fetus, it is about controlling other peoples sex lives and maintaining a "standard" of "morality"
if it were actually about the fetus, and they actually considered it murder, there would be a consistence in calling for there to be some sort of punishment.
