Give yourself permission to NOT think of future problems while trying to sleep because you can't do anything about the problem in the middle of the night, lying there in bed. Also, relax your body one limb at a time by focusing on each body part (foot, leg, stomach, etc.)--takes your mind off of other things and physically relaxes you.

Are you in high school? I wish you'd post your age. I mention it because you said homework.

You need to try and clear your mind before you go to bed.
Do your homework early and get it out of the way, get it behind you and just do it. Tell yourself, if I can have this done by say 5pm or however much time you need, then set yourself these little goals to meet.

Write the things down that are going through your mind and if you don't already have one purchase a cheap notebook that is only for this purpose, nothing else.

Write down what needs to be done today, tomorrow and next week. Write down your thoughts in separate are and date everything.

Set yourself small goals you know you can do, then cross them off as they are done.

Each day keep making small goals, it doesn't matter what it is, whatever you feel you need to do even if you've been avoiding it write it down on paper.

Once you get it all day, you can take a second look at it say in 30 minutes. then proritize everything, start with the most important to the least important or the other way around.

Keeping your thoughts and things to do on paper will help you in many areas.

1) Get you organized.
2) Prepare you for each day (you can even put down pick out your clothes tonight for tomorrow on your list..it's your list)
3) Seeing things on paper gives you a different outlook on things.
4) Writing things down, clears your mind to help you relax.

Writing everything down is very good for you and you'd be surprised when after you get it all down, just how tired and exhausted you are, and tell yourself, my gosh look at all this stuff, no wonder I couldn't sleep.

So, you aren't forgetting about anything because you already know you have your daily lets call it a daytimer that you can pick up anytime to help remind you of things to do.

It's a good practice anyway.

Good luck and get it all out and down on paper please, I think you'll be amazed at something so simple could have such a huge impact on your mind and allow you to finally rest.

You should know that one very important thing is most likely missing in your brain if you suffer from troubled sleep.

I'm not talking about some form of disability or physical deficiency. I'm talking about a form of brain activity that is in sorely low supply in people who sleep badly (and, incidentally, in people who suffer from ADHD).

It's something that athletes have.

Something that you can have too, very simply, without effort, once you know how. Yet almost nobody knows about this, and much less know how to use it.

Your brain needs retraining!

Sleep specialists agree: a combination of brain training and effective sleep strategies is the best and most direct way to combat insomnia.

There is a free 7 part course you can subscribe to that is packed full of info. See http://www.insomniafreedom.com/free-cour...

It helped me rest for the first time in years when I tried it 12 months ago.

Well what are you doing in these moments during the night where you should be sleeping?

I would suggest just laying down in the darkest, quietest place you can come up with. Then start visualizing something. Start thinking about a girl you like, a video game, skydiving and what it was or would be like, or paintball or something, just visualize anything stimulating and close your eyes. It works for me when I can't sleep.

weed helps you sleep drink hot chamomiel tea take a relaxing bath do something for a few hours before you go to bed that is relaxing and that takes your mind off of stressful things if you lay in bed for too long without sleeping then your mind will associate your bed with not sleeping so get up and read or do someting a little boring to help you fall asleep

if you work out before you go to sleep it gets to you tired... also, my nanna does yoga which helped her too... by the way, every one has problems finding out who they are... don't worry about it now... you have plenty of time to figure it out... just take your days step by step and live in the moment.. not the future (it hasnt even happened yet so why worry?) and not the past (its happened and all you can do is learn from your mistakes)
