I've been going to a psychologist for several years and he has helped me. Now he mostly just weeps a lot and I don't know what to do? I'm not too stable myself so this is really messing with my head. It's not a joke question. Please give me some advice. Should I try to help him?

I get the impression that feminism and gun control sort of go hand in hand. Is this to try to prevent gun violence against women? Could pro second-amendment folks also be feminist? Perhaps if people had the right to concealed handguns, the number of rapes would decrease? I could kind of see it both ways.

Is gun control a feminist issue? Or are they two different ideologies that are often found in the same person?

The other night, I had a dream about being underwater. I couldn't see the face clearly, but it wasn't me, who was drowning. I could see flashes of light in the water, and I woke with shortness of breath, and feeling like I was gasping. Right after waking, I hear d a voice, but couldn't make out what I was saying. The next night, I dreamed of a girl being taken/held against will, and again there was water involved. I've had some experiences like this in the past, but have chalked it up to a bad dream until now. Anyone with input would be much appreciated.

Why encourage girls to shun motherhood, and to not become home-makers in order to pursue their careers in the corporate world, while at the same time say that women are important and should be admired for their status as child-bearers, and hard work as homemakers?

I think of people who were active in fighting for social justice getting attacked and threatened by thugs or people who hated what they were standing for.

But the media in America most often seems to have focused on violence or *potential* violence by the members of a movement. I have heard and read this both for civil rights and organised labour.

Do you think that the media in America can be expected to report negatively about movements for social justice because they are part of the system and are rewarded by it?

I'm having a few problems in life, I am 22 years old and since I was bullied at school 13-16 I lost my confidence which wasn't much in the first place.

I have no close friends. I feel like because I withdrew my self from social situations I have missed out on social development. I have never been to a night out with friends, I have had opportunities but never had the confidence to go. I've never had a girl friend. As I get older I am finding these problems more worrying and don't know how to tackle them.

The other thing I worry about is that I'm not very intelligent and do not have any career prospects. I'm not to keen on the idea of doing dead end jobs for the rest of my life.

My mood is ok most of the time but when I stop to think about where my life is going I feel upset.

I'm not saying they are good OR bad, but why are they necessarily bad? If 2 consenting adults feel right at the time, why is it bad? If you don't find someone to love are you supposed to never have sex? How much of this stuff is taught to us? I've always wondered what my true sexuality would be if I hadn't had society's stuff crammed in my head from birth.

I have been having anxiety with panic for about 2 years now and it has affected my driving somewhat.I can drive to areas close to my house but can't seem to go much further than that. The doctor put me on xanax low dose0.25mg but if I take more than a pinch it makes me sleepy and it doesn't seem to be helping me get over this panic.
It's a feeling that's hard to explain unless you've had this.I live alone and have no one to help me so I am forced to get out and do what I can, like get groceries, post office, etc.Thank God I live close to a shopping center.
My doctor(psychiatry)doesn't have a clue what causes this in people because I asked him and he replied"do we know?" It seems these doctors think a pill will fix everything but I disagree.
I have never had this problem until now and have always been able to go anywhere. This is driving me insane, can anyone help me out?Is there any one who has this problem? What do you do about it? Please don't be funny, this is serious.
Thank you

in my psych class our teacher brought up a study from a few years back. an anonymous poll (survey) was taken by a group of college-aged males. they were asked the question, "if you knew for a fact that you could get away with it, would you rape a woman?" 30% said "yes". that is 1 in 3. personally, i don't know any men that i believe are capable of that, but this study was from a well-respected college and is very legit. it scares the hell out of me! i don't know what college it was from and i know that could make a difference in the answers. for example, different regions are known for different customs/morals.

my question is: what do you guys think about this? how does it make you feel? for the record, it was not a feminist study-there were other questions asked as well not related to rape. these guys were honest because they didn't have to give their name and no one could know who said what. also, please don't attack me-i am simply repeating the info i was given. thanks all!

Not many people answered before, I need more interpretations!
We were going to start trying this month for baby #2 to give our first a brother or sister and we both really want another baby in the family since we are the only one's who have a baby right now and no one else seems to be ready for one.
Well last night I dreamed all sorts of crazyness and I wasn't ready in my dream to start trying yet and I was stressing out about it not knowing if we should wait or try now or what.
In real life we were going to start trying next month in December around Christmas time but I can't wait any longer so we are going to try this month. Does my dream mean to wait until December or what?? Thanks!

Machiavelli seems quite cynical about the role of religion in politics. Like moses bringing the ten commandments, or Numa and roman religion, there is nothing divine about religion. Rather, the role of reltigion is meant to educate citizens into civic virtue. Yet despite this cynicism, machiavelli refers to fortuna as a goddness. Is machiavelli oing nothing more than founding a new religion? is there something different about fortuna?

I need a thesis statement to this questionn, in reference from the book machiavelliii asappppppppppppppppp, helppp if youuu cannn, as well as any detailss that can back up the thesisss, ahhhh tnank youuu =)

For real. How much better would the quality be in here if trolls were not spewing their nonsense?

I know some people may disagree with me.

Some people say that trolls are sometimes funny. Maybe some are sometimes but other trolls are nasty and some are really low and disgusting.

Trolls want attention by saying stupid and insulting things to get a negative response Not by posting Q&As that are intelligent and interesting and enjoyable.

Some of them are off on an anti-feminist thing and think this is a great place to insult feminist.

Some of them are also mental and obsessively troll here to show off their hate for women.

I don't think that contributes anything positive.

Wouldn't be wonderful if this was a more friendly forum where people could come and actually discuss things without all of the pollution put out by the trolls?

Okay, if I do explained my dream in detail it would take about two pages (I really did, it's in Microsoft Word) but lately I've been have dreams about the Jonas Brothers. I'm not really a fan, I'm not totally crazy about them but I am insterested in their music and style. Anyway, in my dreams I always meet them somehow, and I end up being the 'lucky' person to hang out with them. I usually hang out with them as if they were normal, and they acted as if they knew me for a long time. Today my dream was that they came to Hawaii (where I lived) and once they met me, Nick, one of the boys, started to do my hair. I was like "What?" but I couldn't do anything.

Well, the dream was really long, but is there an explanation to why I'm having these Jonas Brothers dreams? Again, I am not obessed with them, but I do like their music.

Several folks have metioned that they are against the government giving financial supports to parents. How do you guys feel about Social Security? Shouldn't people plan for retirement, similar to suggesting that parents plan for the bearing the costs of raising children themselves? Should care of the old, as well as care of the young, be left up to family members?

Do we own a lot of stuff or does stuff own us? Is a longer, stress-filled life better than a shorter, happier one? Our biology is still primitive and based on millions of years of living in "the wild". Can our biology distinguish between the pleasure of a new iPhone or Ferrari and finding ripe berries? Can we even determine the difference between pleasure and happiness? Did any proto-humans die of stress, cancer, diabetes, suicide - or just disease, accidents, and warfare. Hunter/gatherers spent an average of two hours a day getting food. The rest of the time was spent doing whatever else they wanted to do. Was 20 years as a Neanderthal happier than 80 years as a modern human?
