No, it's not a good idea to have a child so you won't feel lonely. Children will grow up and move away and then you'll be lonely again. Then what, have another one?

What you should do is find a friend or a group of friends who have common interests. My family and friends enjoy horseback riding and we get together all the time to ride and then cook-out.

I also go to a Bible study and get together with friends to watch the UK basketball games and such.

Join a gym or a charity group. Volunteer at the Humane Society, the VA Hospital or your local burn center. You'll have opportunities to meet new people there and maybe you'll form new friendships and you won't be lonely anymore.

no you do not have a child just to avoid being lonely, you have a child to love and Cherish, you sacrifice your life for them and when they grow up and leave home you feel proud that you have passed on your life skills to your child to go off into the world and make something of themselves, being a mum can be lonely especially if you are on your own, you have to remember that a child is for loving not company, when your child is in bed or off out you will still be on your own, why don't you work on finding someone to talk to and get the company of adults or friends before you consider having a child, one day a child will leave home then you are back at the beginning again, have a child to love and Cherish but not just to keep you company.

A child can't fill the void for lonliness. If you're feeling lonely, get a pet, find a hobby you like. Learn to love yourself - even alone - and you'll feel better. Bringing a child into a life you feel is empty isn't fair. You should only have a child with someone you love. A child should add to a happy life, not fill an empty one.

A child is not what will keep you from being lonely in life. There is alot of work that goes into taking care of a child. If you currently have friends that you hang around with from time to time, you may have even less time to spend with them after beginning to raise a child. A better solution to your problem would be to find friends or to get closer to your family if have any.

Only if you are ready for everything. A child is a huge responsibility with a lot of work. I have 2 kids and it is a lot of work. Kids are your forever, but they do grow up, have there own lives, with own families. With that said, remember when they grow up things change. Have a child for the right reasons, not for being lonely. If totally ready. Go for it. If not get a dog or cat for now.. That will help.

If you want a child so that you are not lonely, thats wrong, do charity work and get out more. If you desire that a child is not lonely then get them into after schools clubs, sports clubs etc in your area. Nobody these days should be alone unless they want to be.

Its not a good or a bad idea, people have children for different reasons. After reading your question I asked coworkers what they thought and here were the reasons I got for wanting to have a child.

1. The need to create a legacy or someone to live on in one's footsteps.

2. For couples, many times people want to create something, "The fruit of their love."

3. The need to have someone in your life to whom you can give everything to.

4. To have a family.

In essence the choice and reasons to have children are different for everyone.

No! Having/raising children is wonderful and very fulfilling, however, it is also difficult. Child rearing is hard and at times painful so wanting a child for strictly for companionship is not going to work out the way you would like. Perhaps you should get a dog instead.

I think that's a horrible reason to bring a child into this world. If you're not whole now, trust that you won't be whole after a child is in the picture.
