This is a thought that goes into my mind quite regularly, I suffer from depression for over 25 years now and can no longer take the suffering. Yes I am on medication and yes it is the best for me but my thoughts will not stop.

This first quarter of school I've failed one of my classes. I'm usually the type of person that gets all A's and sometimes B's. But my sophmore year in high school....went straight down hill. I want to focus and get straight A's the next quarter but I feel like I'm such a failure and dissapointment and it's just hard to concentrate and focus, knowing that it's too late to fix anything....at this pace, my future would not look bright and that I won't get into a good college because my grades are suffering and it's too late? I'm feeling really stressed out, please help.

My fiance woke up (and does regularly) with this "romantic line". I need you to play with my d....k. This is routine...well, not anymore...because I have gotten tired of that being his approach, and I would appreciate occasionally feeling like I am part of the "love making" act. I'm menopausal, attractive, active, and like sex. The problem is that I need more than the "Hey babe... I need you .... yaddy yaddy yaddy". I would like a little opportunity to get into it and feel sexy which is hard to feel with bad breath, sleepers in your eyes... and not awake. Anyway, I try to tell him that I don't mind morning sex, but it doesn't really satisfy me. Also, I suggested he try a little bit sweeter approach. He said, "You can find more excuses not to have sex in the morning than anyone I have ever known." Now that is a sore spot... he's known a lot and I have heard how great they were... whatever. It's just the "I need..." that bothers me. How about..."Sweetie, can WE make love?"

I think this is my epiphany, that since I had been given this so much as a child and now I don't have it anymore, this is bad but...I then expect to be treated with this from other people and if they dont' give it to me...I get upset. help :)

Both India and China were ancient civilizations that fell behind and suffered defeats at the hands of the West in the modern era. Both have huge populations (each around one billion) living in relative poverty compared to Europe and North America. India has better natural conditions, mostly flat land and facing the sea on both sides, while China has large portions of unusable land in the forms of deserts and mountains and a relative short coastline (for its area). India has been a full democracy (by Western standards) for the past fifty years, while in China it is not known when democracy will arrive. However, India is falling further behind China economically.

Up to the late 1970s, China and India's economies were comparable. Since then, as the article shows, China is doing a better job of bettering the lives of its citizens. India is leading in computer software but in almost everything else China is advancing more rapidly. This raises some interesting questions: Why cannot a democracy beat a communist regime? (Note the Western standard says that economic and political freedoms go together--if you want economic prosperity you have to have a liberal political system... or that's what the West is telling Russia and Eastern Europe.) Is it due to culture factors? Did the "Cultural Revolution" in late 1960s and early 1970s at the costs of millions of lives under the communists make it easier for today's China to break with the past and to take off, noting in India some have blamed traditions for blocking progress? Which is a better model for Third World countries to follow in development and modernization? Interestingly, the article does not make note of the factor that China has a Taiwan and a HongKong which significantly aid developments in the mainland, something India does not have

The Women's and Gender Studies Program endorses a broad and flexible definition of feminist research, scholarship, and teaching, and seeks to offer a diverse and inclusive range of courses representing all disciplines and numerous feminisms. Multiple understandings of how gender and sexuality are inflected by race, class, and nationality are encouraged.
Feminism, in theory and practice, begins with the assumption that social and cultural institutions have historically treated men and women differently, and that this different treatment has been to the economic and cultural disadvantage of women. Women's and gender studies courses take a feminist perspective in exploring issues in the personal lives of women and men; in cultures, both past and present; in social and religious institutions; and in policy making. In addition, women's and gender studies courses focus on how women represent themselves and are represented in artistic and literary creations and productions.

This happens to me, does it happen to anybody else? Say you're reading a fictional book do you ever start thinking of the world through the protagonists' eyes whilst you're out in the real world? Say the protagonist is markedly cynical, do you become briefly more cynical in your day to day life? Or am I on my own with this one?
