I think this is my epiphany, that since I had been given this so much as a child and now I don't have it anymore, this is bad but...I then expect to be treated with this from other people and if they dont' give it to me...I get upset. help :)

stop looking to others for acceptance and love.
maybe you learned that you aren't capable of making yourself happy and there is something wrong with you if you cannot get compliments / approval / attention.
learn to love yourself not by your ability to make others happy or gain their approval or attention but by who you innately are.

You won't get much of a "fix" if you try to praise yourself. You crave the attention and praise of others. The best way to get that is not to beg for it, but to live a happy, wholesome life where others will naturally tend to compliment you on your lifestyle. For example, if you spend some of your time helping elderly in your neighborhood (raking leaves, shoveling snow, etc.) or doing charity work, you'll probably get kudos for it. You can also offer to tutor kids through a local school or coach athletic teams. Both require sacrifice on your part, but your sacrifice can lead to compliments from appreciative parents. Even if you don't get the praise you want from others, you should feel good about yourself.

Most people are fools.
If you got their approval what would it mean to you.
If you know someone who needs praise give it to them and surprise they will return it to you.

I dont mean to sound harsh but it sounds like you need to grow up. If you cant provide what you need and you get upset when you dont get it this sounds very immature.
