I haven't been able to find a ton of information on this, although I do believe it's called "abasiophilia." I've felt like this for as long as I can remember, and I am not a "wannabe" or a "pretender". I've had relationships and been attracted to men that are in no way disabled, but I find myself being especailly attracted to those who are. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had any experiance with this, or knows anything about it. It's sort of been bottled up in me for awhile, and I've never been open about the topic with anyone.

Like when you go watch the movie 23 and then you swear you see it everywhere but it's really just a trick because you have a pre-concieved notion of the number.

I think that I may be functioning at a much lower rate than the normal person, and this is what causing me all the stress in my life. What should I do and what would you do if you were me? Its hard understanding everday things in general, its hard making friends and keep them, its hard not being hard on yourself when everybody else is hard on you, and you know that you're stupid- and theres no hope for you. Is suicide the answer in this situation? I know I won't amount to sh*t. I'm almost 17 and am pretty sure I'm retarded. And the toughest thing is: I know. I understand enough to know. That I'm absolutely ****** in the head. Is this why I won't go for the girl which has made honor roll? Is this why I want to die?

my dad has always had a really bad temper, yells at me a few times a day and calls me f'in b*tch, f'you and garbage, scum. he is always arguing with my mom too. one moment he is fine and the next he explodes over small things like coming to dinner 10 minutes later, leaving a plate out or even throwing something in the garbage can. he makes me feel so depressed and upset and i'm scared because his anger could pop at any minute. he does not even admit he a problem so counselling prob wont work. i cannot avoid him when we're under the same roof. i dont know where i can go?

I read an article about it a few months ago, but I forgot where I put it, and I want to do a research project on it now.

It was about the ways humans naturally perceive things in a way more exaggerated than they actually are, so when they respond in a degree they consider the same as what affected them, they're actually overreacting instinctively. it's some kind of natural defense. is there a name for this? i'd heard "disproportionate retaliation" and that's the more accurate term i've heard, but it;s not actually used to describe this phenomenon.

Like while someone was speaking to you, suddenly grabbing them, spitting in their face or screaming at the top of your lungs for no reason at all? Or while siiting in a crowd, yelling something rediculous then continuing to sit as if nothing happened afterwards?

People always say things like, "The guillitine is a quick an painless way to die." But, is it actually true? Considering none of us have died, I doubt we can really know the answer, but feel free to debate it.

I have found that fear does act to protect us from harm, but sometimes we allow fear to get in our way for senseless things. If only we can control our fears. I feel we can all be much happier.
