People always say things like, "The guillitine is a quick an painless way to die." But, is it actually true? Considering none of us have died, I doubt we can really know the answer, but feel free to debate it.

I'm sure if you die by the guillitine, it would be painful for about 2 sec... after that your dead, and feel nothing. But I wouldn't want to test that theory. Just my opinion.

I agree that we can't know from someone else's experience, UNLESS we've gone through the process of their dying with them. I suspect that "some" death is so swift, there's not time for pain. Dying in one's sleep also seems the ideal way for most people. (Me, too!) It depends, don't you think? I mean, in some circumstances, we can actually SEE the pain. I have. & to digress just a bit~isn't it ludicrous that pain killing medication is usually not given because it's ADDICTIVE, even when a person is terminal? As Medical Power of Attorney, & a compasionate doctor, I was able to relieve the pain of the best friend I ever had. But he WAS in pain. Yet, he died peacefully. This is a very good question for "debate" & I don't believe that dying is ALWAYS painless, or always is painful. I honestly beleve there are "answers"--don't you? & they vary. (Did you get a star? You should have. A provocative question.)

Well sometimes, we have a mechanism in our brain that protects you when you are dying in overwhelming pain. It is a chemical in our brain that gives us the impression of "floating" and seeing lights, and makes them feel good in a way which is why people before they die claim to see heaven or what not but its not. However some people who undergo a slow and painful death like from cancer or something do feel overbearing pain. But as regards the guillitine, it is so quick that before you know your dead, theres no time to feel pain, its just a split second shock im assuming for those really quick deaths.
It also matters your reaction to it. Our brains make things more painful if we are more scared because it exaggerates it. If you are quietly dying and calm you probably dont feel so much pain as your taking your last breath.

Look it's cliché but just because your parents have divorced, doesn't mean they don't care about and love you. Talk to them, of course they care about you. Speak to somebody in your school. A councillor will help you to think positively which is really what you need right now. If you think things have hit rock bottom, look on the bright side - they can only get better! Your ex-bf is an *** and you deserve better. Every girl deserves better than to be treated like that. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and hold your head up. Speak to those people and start to build yourself up again.

Believe me you have died a billion deaths. We are eternal spirit souls. We just don't remember dieing. God also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. Puts His illusory energy over us so we forget our previous lives. If we could remember them we would die of shock immediately due to all the pain we have suffered and all the suffering we gave to others life after life. IT really depends on ones consciousness at the time of death how much one suffers the pain. It also depends on the way one dies. The main thing is if one is tired of dieing then they should decide not to take birth again. The only way to do that is to think of our Maker at the time of death. Chanting the Maha Mantra is the process for attaining our constitutional position as pure spirit souls. For more info. go to harekrishnatemple.c Read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada - tells how to become free from birth, death, old age and disease forever.

I think that it depends on how you die as to whether it is painless or not. If you die of disease, it probably will not be painless. If in an accident you may not have but brief pain before death. It would be best to die in your sleep or while in a coma, you wouldn't see it coming.

There are people who've died in effect but been revived. Some that have drowned but came back said it was painless.
I just remembered John D. Rockefeller died while boinking a callgirl. He came and went all at the same time!

I think you're right. Everyone who has gone through the process of actually dying, couldn't stick around to tell us how painless it was.
