I would have to say that the purpose is to firstly correctly understand the necessity and determine what needs there are and will be in the future for the business.

Secondly understand the product and how to market it successfully.

The purpose is to understand the information regarding to the electronic markets.

The purpose is to identify the need for intellegence and see how effective it is.
