For years I have wanted to do things which I never got done.
Right now I am in China, teaching. I came here with the hope
to get myself better here, but things are not working out.
I have a much smaller salary than I expected and cannot
even buy the things I need for my studio which is why it is empty.

Some minutes ago, when taking a taxi I reacted stupidly, and am rather worried now.

Please some encouraging words.

I am doing an Applied Social Sciences course and we are due to start doing our dissertation for Honours year.

But I can't think of where to start. How do I narrow down possible options?

I think I might like to do a sociological dissertation, but I am not sure.

I think mine is that if you know what you are doing at the present time then you are not going to have a serious accident in the next 10 minuites, because if you notice that anyone who comes round in hospital says "One minute i was fine and then it goes blank and then i wake up in hospital!"
They never remember the time leading up to the event.

He has thought about teaching but doesn't want to be caught in the school discipline scene with kids that don't want to learn. Likes the prospect of travel and has thought about a working arrangement somewhat like for National Geographic although has no experience with photography. He could freelance and sell his stories/photos but would like to be funded. How would he go about researching the possibilities? Do you have any additional thoughts for him to investigate?

People always seem to make light of it and take the other persons side or view point?

Does this happen to you also? When I am angry because I felt that someone has treated me unfairly and I tell someone else about it, they always seem to try and take the other persons side.

For instance, I was just upset with someone recently. Everyone I told seemed to say - well maybe it's because I did something wrong to cause it or this person doesn't mean to do that...

I think only a couple of people actually got mad with me.

This is just an example. I have noticed that people do this with a lot with other people's problems.

I'm just wondering why! Any ideas?

I hav a very strange problem about which my family is not aware of..... well from a couple of years i talk 2 myself when i'm alone....... i do this because i feel that i cant share some of the things with my mom or anyone. I dont feel like expressing my feelings to any1...... infact my parents are very dominating & my brother is a typical bully 1 like other brothers...... so i keep things with myself. Actually the things about which i talk 2 myself r very general, like my crushes, college things all that. I imagine as some1 is sitting with me or there is any1 in my surroundings & i share everything with that person, when infact there is no1....... I find empty room in my house & i go there & keep on talking to myself & i know this is very stupid!!!! Pls suggest why i do like this??????

I was as a Cook county state's attorney, where 55% of my associate attorneys are female and 49% of the Judges are female. All associates have equal pay.

Where is the sexism? There is now girls hockey teams in my area. Again, where is the sexism? The only possible answer is that some of these girls want to be on the men's team. Why? There is a girls team. The guys don't want women on their team. First, most girls cannot play physical contact sports against men. Second, even for the ones that can, guys don't want them there; guys would rather play against other guys as the male and femal body are very different, and guys measure their bodies/physical prowess against other guys, not girls.

There is equal opportunity for the girls to play hockey. What are they bitching about--that more people pay attention to the guys team? Well, that is b/c there is a higher quality of play d/t inherent strength and power advantages. That is biological. That is not going to change.

It is not that I do not think that they are intelligent people. It is just that I have lost respect for academia in general. At least, in my field. It just seems to be a self-perpetuating academy that cranks out "research" papers, many pointless, usually hashing over the same things that have been hashed over in the past.

I need to finish this degree but my Professors can tell I have this attitude -one told me directly yesterday that she knew that I think the whole thing is a joke.

(I am asking this here because its related to academics)
