I was as a Cook county state's attorney, where 55% of my associate attorneys are female and 49% of the Judges are female. All associates have equal pay.

Where is the sexism? There is now girls hockey teams in my area. Again, where is the sexism? The only possible answer is that some of these girls want to be on the men's team. Why? There is a girls team. The guys don't want women on their team. First, most girls cannot play physical contact sports against men. Second, even for the ones that can, guys don't want them there; guys would rather play against other guys as the male and femal body are very different, and guys measure their bodies/physical prowess against other guys, not girls.

There is equal opportunity for the girls to play hockey. What are they bitching about--that more people pay attention to the guys team? Well, that is b/c there is a higher quality of play d/t inherent strength and power advantages. That is biological. That is not going to change.

Women don't want to be men and this question is full of generalizations and assumptions that are for the most part untrue. These girls are probably excellent hockey players like Megan Agosta who want the challenge of playing a more competitive game. Unfortunately most girls are not given the rigorous training that the boys are and as a result when you get to that point in the career they are not as skilled. These girls are probably just as good as the guys and want a chance to be challenged.

There was a time where white men did not want black men playing baseball as well and this sounds suspiciously like the same excuses that really make no sense. This is just another form of oppression. If the boys don't want to play with the girls tell them to stay home and get over themselves. They are certainly not Vijay Singh.

Probably because they perceive that to be male is to not be oppressed...that's what I'm guessing.

Ever hear of Title IX? If not enough girls are interested in a sport, men's teams have to be cut back so everything's equal. That's not fair, either.

I've never been that interested in sports myself, and it's not due to social conditioning. Women and girls should take some pride in being female and act feminine instead of trying to be "one of the guys" and pushing for androgyny.

Females in general don't have the physical strength of males. That's why there are two different standards in the military--a man is expected to run a mile in so many minutes, and it's LONGER for women.

One gender is not superior to the other--don't get me wrong. It's just that we're different. And different is NOT the same as unequal!

We don't want to be men.

We just want to even the playing field, so we're taking over some *areas* that were typically male.

I don't want to be a man.

Your question doesn't make any sense. Who's saying there's sexism? You're pointing out two cases where something isn't sexist and trying to act like a big man and a jackass because, well, it isn't sexist.

Although I haven't found a higher quality of play between genders in any sport. Men do have some minor advantages when it comes to being able to muscle up faster and generally being a little more aggressive, but I've seen female kickboxers that are far stronger than men who have been training for just as long.

Actually, for some odd reason, more men seem to want to be women than vice-versa.

But, fair is fair -- if there is only one team, let everyone compete equally, whether it be football, hockey, or field hockey.

But, if there are two teams in a sport, either both genders can compete to play with the other gender, or no one can.

How can it be fair if the rules are not the same for everyone?

So, make the "playing field" completely level and let all the kids compete - and may the best boy or girl win.

As a woman ....I never have and don't plan on wanting to be a man.......I would never want to take the moment I gave birth to my daughters, the moment they were laid on me and they nursed.......and swap that to play hockey with a bunch of sweaty guys..............I'd be insane......maybe there are some women out there that need to prove themselves as strong as a man physically....but not me.....so please don't generalize.......don't minimize those miraculous 9 months of pregnancy and the wonders of the woman's body.....it's not physically as strong as a mans......but it makes up for that in many many other ways..........For this very reason I don't feel the need to get sweaty next to any man on a hockey field to prove my worth....

Where did you get the idea that women want to be men? Has any woman ever said to you, personally, "I want to be a man?" I doubt it. Even so, it would only speak to HER wishes, not to the entire gender.

I would ask you - "Why do men want to be women?" After all, there ARE men actually having surgery to become female, and men who are transsexuals, living their lives as women. They FAR outnumber the transsexuals who want to be male.

What a silly, stereotype-filled question.

I can't answer your question directly, as I know nothing and care not at all about sports. But, I can attest that there is plenty of sexism out there. I was 34 years old, and had cash- a few thousand dollars that I had saved to buy a used car. I went shopping for one by myself. At one place I was completely ignored- went in and stood at the counter, and they didn't even acknowledge my presence. The next place, the salesman told me I should come back with my husband. Another salesman, after I told him I would like to buy a Bonneville, told me that no, he didn't have a Bonneville, but, he said, "look at this car- it's red!" Another guy said no, he didn't have a Bonneville, but led me over to a car, opened the driver's door and got in, and said "this is a nice car, and (flipping down the visor) look! It has a vanity mirror!" It was the most humiliating day of my life.

and why do you think women want to "be men"???
it's good that there is so little sexism where you are, at least where you can see, but it exists in many places still.
i don't know what they are 'bitching' about, as you haven't given links, further info, etc. and i REALLY don't know what YOU'RE bitching about....
