I hav a very strange problem about which my family is not aware of..... well from a couple of years i talk 2 myself when i'm alone....... i do this because i feel that i cant share some of the things with my mom or anyone. I dont feel like expressing my feelings to any1...... infact my parents are very dominating & my brother is a typical bully 1 like other brothers...... so i keep things with myself. Actually the things about which i talk 2 myself r very general, like my crushes, college things all that. I imagine as some1 is sitting with me or there is any1 in my surroundings & i share everything with that person, when infact there is no1....... I find empty room in my house & i go there & keep on talking to myself & i know this is very stupid!!!! Pls suggest why i do like this??????

I don't think its a mental problem... probably a communication problem. I don't think it's even a problem, because I do it too particularly when I'm frustrated and can't share my problem with my family (which happens often). You're probably apprehensive about how other people will react to what you say so you let the steam out by talking to lifeless things. You're actually no worse than me... I even talk to my mirror if I get a chance! It's pretty useful for me because it lets my anger ebb away and I can practice any confrontation I have to face by myself in my room.... Oh gosh, how weird that sounded! lol...

But, you know, if you're really worried about the extent of your conversations, you better talk to some good friend or some trusted member of your family... :)

You have found that you cannot engage in a normal conversation with your family, and there is no sister or friend close by, so you talk to yourself. Many others have far worse problems, but as long as you can find friends your age, outside the home to talk to, it's nothing worth worrying about. Can't you phone someone and talk to them sometimes. Try expressing yourself by writing it down in a lockable diary, or putting an upper and lowercase password with numbers in it on the computer, for your private files. Even so, I would code certain words and names, just to be on the safe side. Plan to move out as soon as possible, though; your life will be much improved when you do.

You're fine! It sounds like the rest of your family could use some sensitivity training and counselling though.

Tell a school counsellor or doctor or nurse about the whole situation at home.

its not exactly an ailment but if you hear someone speaking to you or commanding you to do some kind of work,etc or two persons talking with each other, then u requires to see a psychiatrist,but otherwise you need to share your problems and other feelings with your good friends,it may help,do not worry.

There is nothing wrong doing so but don't make it a habit and don't feel guilty about it! It's the latter which causes all problems!

OK, you talk to yourself, the real question is, do you answer yourself, is there another voice in your head that talks to you, is the person you talk to when you talk to yourself disconnected from you. Answer those questions for a diagnosis.

I do that too, but im getting a girlfriend soon, so im not worried
