How do you help someone improve their life who is addicted to excuses. Granted this person has excuses that have a factual basis but how do you go about helping them make the connection that being pro active and taking action to resolve problems is the answer and not offering knee jerk excuses for every thing?

I want to study archaeology, but I also want to have an ephasis on celtic or irish archaeology. Unfortunately, I don't know what schools offer good programs. I would prefer a school in the US, but just knowing other ones would help a lot. Thanks!

Many people have thrown the "fall of Rome at me". That is a joke. As far as the power of Christianity exists I will cite you this thought.
Whenever any congress of any government opens they say a prayer to God. Especially in a dominate Christian country.
Have you heard the Pope or any priest say the Pledge of Alligience" before Mass.
Have your seen a politician say a prayer before Congress. Or is it a Christian representative?

If so, I need it. I've gotten so lazy that I even procrastinate on doing stuff that I enjoy. I really need to find some ambition.

Are there any books I can read that would help?

At first I thought they were kidding, but after reading more about it, I think they are 100% serious!! Does that seem convoluted to anyone except me? It's like renting a space for an AA meeting right next door to a Bar, isn't it? Am I just worried about myself, or does anyone else find that strange too? Serious answers only Please! Thanks.

I think with the permeation of the California gangster/outlaw lifestyle on early 1990's rap (NWA) many easily influenced black men idolized these 9 feet tall seemingly bullet-proof guys who commanded respect, made money materialize out of nowhere and women swoon with a change of facial expression. Now there is a crop of "fake thugs" of all races who are taking on the outer personna of these guys but are as soft as grandma's cookies.

Many of them come from middle class homes or if it is a single parent home the mother is hardworking and often-times educated and he just insists as if he is from the projects and had to eat pine-sol with his cheerios.

Do you have any expierences with fake thugs?

Why do you think that this is become so attractive for young guys and the girls that are swooning after them?

Is this the theme that is at the heart of the new movie Alpha Dog?

My son, brn 1981 seems to have many lookalikes in the arts. At first I thought it a funny coincidence but it continues to excalate and now my curiosity is piqued. These young men are all medium to dark skinned caucasion, with slightly heavy brows, somewhat broad noses and surprisingly have similar voices. The first one I noticed was the kid from "Wonder Years" who's name escapes me. More and more have shown up over the years.

Is this just due to the homogenous blending of so many ethinic and racial roots, or is it a government /alien conspiracy? (kidding)

But I am serious about the rest of the question. BTW, my son is also in the arts.

Some one said to me to find out the percent of people living in poverty in south America and China

they said to compare the poverty rates from 50 years ago and the poverty rates now.

they said that Chinas communist system was better at reducing poverty than the western capitalist system in Latin America.

can some one help me find the figures.

is this true?

Isnt it like when we look at most wanted list on FBI website and just can tell that these particular people that are so dangerous always looked like they could be somebody who would commit crime? I mean of course we would never know, but at the same time most of pedofiles look certain way and act certain way. Most of cannibals or child molesters look certain way too....almost like their feelings that are currently present in their minds are exposed on their faces? For example, John Wayne Gacy aka "The killer klown" look like he had issues off the jump. Or Andrei Chikatilo aka "The red ripper" looked like he was psycopath and just troubles person. And what about Dr. Josef Mengele who was one of the docs in concetration camps in Auschwitz that is also know as "The Angel of Death", i dont know how they called him angel, but he look like he is pure evil and just not a human being related creature. Is there a connection between looks and behavior?

We take pride in the fact that ours is the largest democracy. We have elected bodies, who frame laws in the framework of a consttution. When issues are to be decided by voting, why do so many issues are taken to the streets? There are inumerable Bandhs, Rasta Rokos, huge processions et al hitting the country's economy and the life of common man in paricular? How is the freedom of an individual who has the right to work to earn a decent living protected? How is the common man protected against the exploitations of self-centred politicians?

MY ANSWER
I help frustrated people all the time. I can't solve thier problems. I don't always know the best advice. I think they benefit from just having someone non-judgemental to talk to. They usually walk away in a calmer state of mind.

I have tried a variety of techniques, in my search for something other than suffering, i can not find it, is there a word?

Have i not experienced anything other than suffering, if so, why do i bother looking for something else, is this called instinct?
I recently learned that we are allowed self esteem, and so this is similiar to being selfish, ok, so my selfish desire is for something other than suffering.

Where is it? how do we get it? etc. . . . .

I think I have a disorder that is like bulimia but doesn't involve eating.

The same habits are present, binging and purging, feeling out of control.

For example, I will spend lots of money one week and then when I feel out of control I will be extremely frugal and then when i feel back in control I do things to lose that feeling.

This also applies to organization. I will obsessively clean and become very organized, only to gradually become more and more messy and out of control with clutter until I feel completely out of control and then I will continue the cycle.

What does this sound like? Bipolar? I'm planning on seeing a doctor but I wanted to see if anyone could take a guess on what this might be.
