You need to make your study environment separate from outside distractions. 1. quite space
2. set a time for study that is consistent
3. Ensure that you have all the notes, books, papers, you will need.
4. Read, vocalize, visualize, write review
5. use connectivity to help absorb information such as "Freud+ Jung helped found psychology= Freudian theories and Jungian theories-Jung started as Freud's assistant to later devise his own perspective on the human beh. pattern"
6. Take a break every 20minutes but do not watch t.v because studies have shown that the absorption of information is decreased when t.v is introduced.
7. Set aside one day (Fri. sat. or sun.) that you do not study on.
8. Ensure that you are focusing on the work dismiss external noise, if you have difficulty with this place earphone on without music so you can drown out all other sounds.

Good luck, the techniques I have listed are only suggestions and guidelines. I hope it helps.

The best way to learn is to be curious...to want to understand what's being taught. When you get a textbook assignment, do this:
1. scan the chapter to get a feel for what's being covered
2. form some questions in your mind about the material...write these questions down
3. begin reading the chapter with the goal of trying to get the answers to your questions
4. if new questions arise while reading, add those to the list
5. take any unanswered questions with you to class and listen to the lecture with the goal of hearing the answers
6. ask your professor about questions that remain unanswered

This is how all really good students study. You'll get better at it as you go along.

Get a teacher like mine lol. Online quizes open book , etc.

Actually , I took a class before going to college on "how so study". Personally , I get bored , and my eyes strain heavily when I read ... so here's my thoughts on studying. Read through the chapters covered on the test once through , sort of skim. Then read it all again , but take your time , jot down what you think is important, you really don't have to take thorough notes ...... I mean seriously , if you only have 1 side of 1 sheet of paper , it'd be best if you knew alot of the material. When you jot notes down , make sure that you can link the word or phrase your write down to what you read.

Anyways , have fun with your class... I have psych in 20 minutes and it's funny.
