The "primer" of feminism is Simone de Beauvoir's book Second Sex. This is one serious and hard existentialist study about the history, causes and strategies in excluding women from almost all public spheres of life, from the beginnings of civilization to nowadays. It exam's a real life of women and their destiny, destructing all the myths, romantic representations of women, embellishments and making-ups.

Other important authors are Naomi Wolf (The Beauty Myth), Luce Irrigaray, Donna Haraway (Cyborg Manifesto), Virginia Woolf (A Room of One's Own), Gertrude Stein, Robin West... and many other that you will already be able to find by your own, following the references. Good Luck!

If you want a realistic view on feminism, the canonical book to read is by equity feminist Christina Hoff-Sommers: "Who Stole Feminism?" Not only is it very informative, but it's also an interesting and engaging read.

Good luck!

Germain Greer's "Lady love your ****" is a real eye opener when you consider the time it was written - search it out, it kinda made me look differently at the basis for the need for female empowerment......having said that I am a bleeding heart liberal and as such I feel the pain of the whole world because I have none of my own lol
