I have tried a variety of techniques, in my search for something other than suffering, i can not find it, is there a word?

Have i not experienced anything other than suffering, if so, why do i bother looking for something else, is this called instinct?
I recently learned that we are allowed self esteem, and so this is similiar to being selfish, ok, so my selfish desire is for something other than suffering.

Where is it? how do we get it? etc. . . . .

First of all good question. I have to say you confused the **** out of me at first.
Well lets say, easiest way to definte suffering or say what is an opposite of suffering is by learning what suffering is first.
Suffering is something when in life **** is not going your way. In plain English you constantly unlucky, unsatisfied, unhappy, and the rest of un- words i guess. So opposite of suffering then would be a good life which is impossible. So it would be someone who is extremely lucky, happy, satisfied, smart, fortunate, healthy, positive. Someone who posibily have bad things happen to them, but it never faze them and all they say once it happens..."Hey i guess **** happens! And thats why I love life." Yea whatever.
Yes instinct tells you to look for happiness, or in your case how to get out of suffering zone. Its normal. People suffer from different things. We all know it have nothing to do with money (to have money would help though). Its more on that down to earth level where you just need good life, have family, kids, good health, job you love and just plain luck (so no final destination just aproach you froma a distance, like piano drops on your head type of thing). Also people like you sometimes dont realize that its not always suffering. You just so concentrated on this particular stage of your life you probably forgot all the good things that happened to you. Also my grandma always said those who suffer young always live a better happier life once they grow a lil older and thats what you want. So concetrate to get you stuff together and just live life. Its like uneven road that you have to follow, because if you just wont bend for it and go straight you might get yourself in some serious troubles. Smile, its not so bad out there.

If you are asking for a word which is opposite of suffering then it can be 'well being' or 'enjoying'

If you feel that you are experiencing 'suffering', then it itself says that you know what is the opposite of suffering. Because only when you know what is a state of well being then only you compare it with the times of hardship (suffering).

If you are feeling very hot and sweaty, then naturally you will be looking and searching for a cool place - the thought of search will arrise only when you have the memory of the experience of coolness.

Example : Even today in some forests, primitive / tribal man indulges is various sorts of hardship like igniting the fire / wook cutting / hunting / manual stiching / search for medicinal plants / waking bear foot ... etc which are termed as difficult for todays modern people, but all of them are not suffering for them for the reason that they do not know the comforts of science. But when once they are accustomed to the comforts then all that they have been doing seems for them as difficult or sufferings.

so only when we know already what is the 'opposite of suffering' then only you will get this thought .

Euphoria, bliss, happiness, joy, ecstasy and orgasm could all be called the opposite of suffering. Self esteem means having a (deservedly) high opinion of yourself, which has nothing to do with being selfish. Go to: http://www.relax7.com/7.php It is not selfish to want to avoid suffering: make a worthwhile contribution to your society for around half your waking hours, then, in the rest of the time, find things that interest you or you like doing(as long as you are not causing harm), and enjoy yourself!

I'd say that the opposite of suffering is peace. Peace with yourself, the world etc. I don't know if true peace with everything is possible, but I know I have a much more peaceful mindset since I began a career that I love that benefits the world, and not just myself. Can you honestly say you like yourself and what you stand for? If not, I'd say start there.

In my own personal opinion , I would guess that the opposite of suffering is pleasure , or something that brings forth a sense of happy euphoria. The way to achieve it is dependent on the person him/herself. Idk , do the things you enjoy in life , do what makes you happy , forget about the sadness and hatred in life , and then maybe it is possible to end the suffering. Fight as much as you can to strive to do well and succeed... and if anyone tries to get you down , if you truly believe that you are a good person at heart, don't listen to them.

i think the opposite of suffering is non-suffering - tranquility, inner peace, a deep calmness of the mind and spirit...

i've been looking for an inner peace that lasts longer than a few moments, but haven't had much luck.
