1. Why Freud?

2. In what way(s) is Freud still relevant to us at this moment in time?

3. How do you see yourself in relation of the Freudian heritage? --
that is, is you interest specific to his works, or are you devoted to
some consequent school or branch of psychoanalysis? what do you see as
good/bad useful/not useful in psychoanalysis after Freud? [Lacan,
Klein, Kohut, Winnicot etc etc]

4. Which Freudian texts do you find most compelling, original or
crucial?

5. What do you find most convincing in Freud's theory? least convincing?

6. Do you see psychoanalysis as relevant to politics? if so how? what
thinkers do you feel have made good use of psychoanalysis in the realm
of political analysis? if not politics, then fit "cultural studies"
into that spot and re-ask this question?

7. What are your thoughts about psychoanalysis' relation to science? is
it one? does it need to be one? are they at odds? does its status
vis-a-vis science have any effect on its truth value (if it has any)?

8. How does Freud or psychoanalysis inform your work or research? does
it?

9. How do you respond to those who say that Freud is nothing but a
turn-of-the-last-century pseudo-scientist with patriarchal values and
sexist attitudes who is irrelevant to the contemporary world?

10. How important is actually undergoing analysis? that is, can we be
satisfied with being "armchair freudians" or if there anything about
the actual practice which is still important?

11. What do you think about the fate of diagnoses like Hysteria or
Obsessional Neurosis? are they still valid and thus enduring
structures discovered by Freud - or - are they dependent upon their
time & thus now we have a need for new diagnoses to keep up with an
ever-mutating situation?

Linda Evangelista:"It was God who made me so beautiful. If I weren't, then I'd be a teacher." As a teacher this comment made me mad. I emailed her myspace. I wrote: I saw the interview where u said that if u hadn't been born beautiful u would have been a teacher. This is to insinuate that teachers are not beautiful. I find ur comment ignorant & ugly. Some of us, contrary to ur belief, are not so bad looking. Moreover, u fail to realize that character plays the biggest part in what makes someone beautiful. Your character is as ugly as ur comment. Teachers will always have their education & always have a job. Unfortunatly for u someday ur looks will fade & noone will want to take ur picture. As pathetic & sad as it is, u are someone that young girls look up to, & not all of them have the physical attributes to be a mindless model such as yourself. Perhaps before u open ur mouth and speak u should try & use that that thing between your ears called a brain or smile & keep ur mouth shut.

When I say aggressive, I mean aggression against anything, such as killing a chicken for example.

Or is it equally aggressive, just in different ways?

If the Majority of girls who star in porn have been sexually abused, and are more then likely suffering form the life long side affects, don’t you feel sorry for her? Anyone who has sex for everyone to see (and gets paid!) obviously has extremely low self-esteem. Don’t you think? I mean if you truly value your self, you would have some kind moral standards, and not have sex for EVERYBODY to see! What do you think???
I'm not saying I've never watched porn before... however if I do I feel guilty.

This is pretty typical of the sort of thing feminists like to say, I read it in the thread "has the women's movement gone too far", except the 10% was replaced by 5%, you can see the claim again here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feminism

Actually looking at the source:

United Nations Human Development Report 2004; Page 233, Gender, work burden and time allocation:

http://hdr.undp.org/reports/global/2004/pdf/hdr04_HDI.pdf

You can see it says women do more work, because they work more in NON-MARKET activities. Looking at MARKET ACTIVITIES, we see that men do FAR MORE WORK.

Market and non-market activities are defined in:

http://unstats.un.org/unsd/publication/SeriesF/SeriesF_91E.pdf

"The system treats volunteer work as a nonmarket activity just like
housework or leisure activities such as gardening."

So, in money earning work, men earn more and women don't earn as much for non money earning work! A travesty!!

Why bother with myths like this, feminists?

Our country is so politically and socially divided right now and it's not pretty. Half the country is Christian and half the country doesn't believe in the concept of right and wrong. Sorry but Christian or not our country can't function on moral anarchy. I mean, look at how far our society has fallen in the past 30 years.
