It certainly should not! There is a saying in science that we are all "standing on the shoulders of giants."
Wisdom and knowledge given by an adult enables the child to take a "short cut" in life, giving him/her the opportunity to learn other things in addition to what the parent is giving. Sometimes that additional life-experience and knowledge leads the child to conclusions that the parent disagrees with but that is how it should be.
In sharing, one is giving ones child the opportunity to think for him/her self. That is the whole point of any good education. The dad in question should be satisfied with his efforts and in no way be angry either with himself or his son.

Happened to me... I'm an only child, daughter, who was taught all the right things, wisdom from both of my parents... But when words like independence, open-minded and ability to make autonomous decisions about life and how it's supposed to look like came to bite them in the as.. , I became rebel, person whose only gold was to hurt the ones I love just out of spite. It turned out that the things he wanted me to learn are not the things he lives by so we have a problem... Hypocrisy...

It could happen.
The father may feel his knowledge is complete and does not need any more thinking about.
I father might have brought up his son to think for himself. A father might feel that the knowledge he has passed down can stand up to scrutiny. If not, well if the kid can come up with a better way all the better.
But I can see how a father could feel threatened.

some dad's would be in hope that they would fallow threw with things they could not do. but i would hope that most would see that the he has given his son the ability to think freely and hope and prey that his makes his own mistakes and not ones that he made him self. at least that is what i hope for with my son that me learn from my mistakes and be willing to make his own and learn from them.

No, of course not. It's the best gift you can give your child, the confidence to know their own mind.
