I have trouble speaking up in a group, so most of the time I sit quietly and only participate when I am called upon. On back of my head I am thinking what others are thinking about me or my questions or response isn't good enough like others in the group. I specially have hard time carrying on a conversation with people who are more knowledgeable then me. Professors I can communicate with pretty well if they are friendly, however people same age as me and professional business person I have hard time talking too. This also bothers me during a presentation, and I sometime end up hesitating. I have taken speech class for a elective but not a whole lot of help. I also know 4 languages so and english is my 2nd language with no accent.

When someone tries to abuse me (non-physically) with verbal conflict and arguments, I instantly feel an overwhelming urge to vomit, my heart races, and my stomach cramps up. Why am I so super sensitive? How do I counteract my physical reaction and just "stand strong" so to speak (both physically and emotionally)?

Lately, I've really wanted to just be in a car crash or something, go to the hospital, maybe stay a day, and then go to school and everyone is worried about me. What the |=uck is my problem? I know how stupid it sounds. Is it for the attention? I mean, I'd never hurt myself on purpose, so why would I want this? Thanks.

What magazines do you subscribe to?

Our house: National Geographic, Natural History, Archaeology, New Scientist, Science News, Highlights, Texas Monthly, Smithsonian, a Taste of Home, various professional journals for the two adults' professions, and dozens of catalogs, most of which I have never ever ordered from. (hit a high of 33 catalogs in one day just before the holidays last year).

Our postal carrier hates us, I think. Maybe not, maybe she looks at it as job security.
