Since when is it acceptable to put your hands on another person and start "rubbing?" It is unacceptable social behaviour for sure. You do two things by this...you will make them uncomfortable and they will either bolt or freeze. Not good. You risk being "roughed" up by someone's husband too...or the wife.
Surprise ANYTHING will bring a whole new SET of SURPRISES.

A guy rubbing a women's back, unless he is a family member, is always in a sexual way. Men are very sexual beings.

Your hole body is "private" and no one should touch you unless you approve. When you let someone touch you unwantingly and don't say anything, then it is like saying "yes it is OK to touch me." It doesn't matter what part of "your" body anyone touches it is still "private". You should demand respect.
Remember by not saying anything you open the door to more un wanted touch.
Don't concern yourself with his feelings when you set these limits because he wasn't concerned with "your feelings" when he touched you.
Some people need to learn American culture. "Personal space"

If I knew him well, probably nothing.
If I knew him a little, I'd probably simply move away.
If I didn't know him at all, I'd probably elbow him in the stomach and tell him to keep his paws off me.

I would be uncomfortable, and would move away. If I felt offended, then I would let him know that his behavior was not acceptable, in the most polite way I knew how.

slap his hand away!! I have asperger's syndrome,and I hate to be touched!!!! I mean, if you were to hug me,i would brace myself and if you wanted to shake hands, I would not so do. I would gently put my hands ,palm out,on your chest and push you away when you hugged me. As for the touching my back? Some men who touch a woman only want one thing,and it has everything to do with SEX.
